Ibrahim: Battle against Takfiris Didn't Stop Us from Chasing Spies
إقرأ هذا الخبر بالعربيةGeneral Security chief Maj. Gen. Abbas Ibrahim stressed that the agency's strenuous efforts against terror groups entrenched on Lebanon's porous border, have not stop it from pursuing the battle against Israeli spies, Ad Diyar daily reported on Monday.
The agency is increasingly vigilant in “monitoring and arresting Israeli agents,” said Ibrahim stressing that “the battle with Takfiri terrorism did not stop us from pursuing and dismantling networks dealing with the Israeli enemy,” he told the daily in an interview.
Ibrahim's comments came after the detention of an Iraqi citizen over the weekend who was allegedly spying for Israel.
“We are working on both lines in parallel without neglect, knowing that the Israeli and takfiri threats are two sides of the same terrorism," he stressed.
Abbas pointed out that the Iraqi spy's detention came in line with the General Security’s “diligent” efforts, revealing that contacts were held with Iraqi authorities who were briefed on the details of the case.
The National News Agency said on Saturday that the Iraqi citizen confessed that he was recruited by an arm of the Israeli Defense Ministry to gather information about the Lebanese army and certain personalities in Lebanon.
The NNA report added that the person was also asked to recruit people in Lebanon to form a "sabotage network," and that he also recruited his brother in Iraq to spy for Israel.
Lebanon and Israel technically remain at war, and more than 100 people in Lebanon have been arrested since 2009 on suspicion of collaborating with the Jewish state.
Israel generally does not comment on such allegations.
the American embassy is the main source, it requires special surveillance despite the americans make believe that they are there to help.
southern should ask for every single embassy to close as they all have spies... he should ask for every foreigner to quit the country and deport more than half of the lebanese population who are against his hezbi party then his poor mind would be at ease...
or better: he should go to a psychiatric ward....
I agree with southern irani on this one. The Iranian Embassy does not need to spy on Lebanon. They have Hezbollah who does it for them for free.
spying are not accomplished in own's country but in third ones, for example: CIA doesn't have spying rings in washington but in Lebanon to reqruit individuals like you to commit terrorist and assassination acts.
Southern, our people have a very close eye on the U.S Embassy, remember they host CIA people in that building.
Just like in the 80s, but our people burned them out and same will happen if America tries to take over Lebanon along with Israel.
This is what Americas presence became when they tried to flex their muscles in Lebanon.

Then they retreated.
the term heretic encompasses all of the above. But if you insist next time I will list them in the order you requested so that your thick empty brain can comprehend.
You ask me : Do you respect General Security chief Maj. Gen. Abbas Ibrahim?
I answer: I sure do
