A woman was injured after a rocket fired in southern Lebanon landed in a Lebanese village near the border with Israel, the National News Agency reported on Monday.

The Katyusha rocket, fired from al-Qaysiya valley in Majdal Selem, landed in the village of Houla near the border with Israel.

The rocket wounded Nasira Ali Abbas, 55, as the rocket hit her house, according to NNA.

The woman was transferred to Mais al-Jabal Hospital.

Voice of Lebanon radio (93.3) reported on Monday that the Lebanese army informed UNIFIL about the incident and launched an investigation.

Meanwhile, Israeli troops were on very high alert along the southern border with the Lebanese town, according to the radio station.

It was the first such attack since a series of rockets were fired two weeks ago from southern Lebanon landed inside Israel.

Although no one was hurt in those attacks, they were the first fired rockets from Lebanon towards Israel in two years and prompted a return of fire by the Israeli army.

An obscure al-Qaida-linked group calling itself the Brigades of Abdullah Azzam claimed responsibility for the latest attack, as it did for the salvoes fired two weeks ago.

The same group claimed responsibility for the last rocket attack from southern Lebanon against Israel in 2009.

In May 2011, tensions once again flared as protesters massed on the border between the two countries to mark the anniversary of the 1948 creation of the Jewish state, which Palestinians term the "nakba," or catastrophe.

Israeli troops killed 10 people and wounded more than 110 others as protesters tried to flood across the border from Lebanon.

Please for the love GOD! Stop firing those rocket we do not want another 2006 war! I would be very surprised if fired those rockets by Al Qaeda; Assad seems to be the culprit and i think these are just a warning shots.

What a joke. Must be the filthy militia that fired the rockets as all bombs they detonated in 2010 has failed.

We cannot reason with murders and manipulators. For now nothing will happen but don't fool yourself and think HA will last forever. Nothing lasts forever. Lebanon has a history of powerful groups crumbling into dust....

@mowaten - this is a repost to make sure you see this :)
I am sure the youngest of my kids might be of your age :)
I know my history and know the country which I refused to leave like others, especially during the israeli invasion, and stayed in Beirut on purpose, not to become like the palestinian people :)
as well I was in Beirut when the hords of hizbullah and amal invaded beirut... way before the israeli invasion, and still remember their chants like "we want to say openly, we do not want to see sunnis" and that was in Beirut.
also I still remember the real resistance people being shot in their backs in the south while going for an operation.....
by the way I am christian :)
so review your comments, and please do not say hizbushaitan never did blah blah blah: it is enough the way they usurp the power now.
just tell me who apponted them ??

funny how the frontier was calm since 2006 and now that bashar has difficulties in his country some groups fire rockets... just like he is saying : if you bring us down look what will happen!

aoun said it years before that syrian would leave behind them groups of islamists to bring chaos to the country... he was right no?

and the hezb with all its spies and agents in the south aren t aware of this? or it means their surveillance is zero!

Political matters and analysis are subject to debate between reasonable and responsible people....No one oppose the debate as long as it's respecting those criteria but when you want to divert the attention and create a chaotic atmosphere you just need to involve the boys from the streets such as the infamous SHAB.....He represents the typical Lebanese disruptive and troubeled behavior ..what a waste what a scandal…
Pfffffffffffffffff
