Mustaqbal movement chief Saad Hariri received a telephone call from Change and Reform bloc head MP Michel Aoun where he reiterated the need to attend the parliamentary session on Feb. 8 to elect a president.

“Hariri received the call from Aoun (founder of the Free Patriotic Movement). He welcomed the latest initiative between the FPM and the Lebanese Forces in Maarab,” Hariri's media office said.

“We welcome the reconciliation which we have repeatedly urged the LF and the FPM to take,” said Hariri.

Furthermore, the Mustaqbal chief pointed to his own initiative that he lately launched and that saw the nomination of Marada chief MP Suleiman Franjieh for the post.

He reiterated “the need to attend the parliamentary sessions to end the vacuum.”

In a different phone call, Hariri reassessed with Franjieh the latest developments and efforts aiming to reactivate the work of the state and its institutions.

Aoun's call came following his endorsement on Monday by LF chief Samir Geagea for the post.

His move came after Hariri clinched a deal with Franjieh late last year to back him for the presidency in return for Hariri to return to the Grand Serail.

Despite Geagea's support for Aoun, Hariri is sticking to his decision to back Franjieh.

Lebanon has been without a president since the term of President Michel Suleiman ended in May 2014.

As long as KSA doesn't want Aoun, Saad will not go to session. End of story for now. Aoun needs to take his request to Riyadh.

Which is why the vacuum should be blamed on Riyadh.

What amazes me is now all talk about the legitimacy of the parliament, the call for direct election of the president by the people, a new election law before the presidential elections are all things of the past according to Aoun. What is more interesting is that he gives Hariri a call.... the man he accused of being an ISIS emir. He is promising hariri the premiership just like franjieh did in exchange for Hariri's votes. This is a bazar by all accounts.

It is a bazaar and what made it so is M8 stomping on the constitution. M8 MPs not attending sessions as they please, Mr. Berri shutting the Parliament doors when he sees fit, HA dictating peace and war and arming itself as it pleases, HA taking over public land and populating it with its supporters as it sees fit, and on and on.

Did you buy Aoun's book where he said Harriri is corrupt and stole from the People and from the State? Why is he calling him now, did he become corrupt like Harriri and maybe offer him the Prime Minister Job back if he votes for him? It is a bazaar.
