Head of the Mustaqbal bloc MP Fouad Saniora and Interior Minister Nouhad al-Mashnouq returned to Lebanon from a trip to Saudi Arabia where they held talks on the latest local developments with Mustaqbal Movement chief MP Saad Hariri, reported al-Joumhouria newspaper on Saturday.

Informed sources told the daily: “The officials agreed on measures to confront these developments and prevent the escalation of the government crisis.”

They stressed the need to preserve the calm Lebanon is enjoying given the regional turmoil, reported the daily.

Saniora and Mashnouq had traveled to Saudi Arabia on Thursday.

Lebanon is facing a crisis over the Free Patriotic Movement's refusal to tackle any cabinet agenda before discussing its decision-making mechanism.

The FPM supporters staged protests on Thursday against the government.

FPM chief MP Michel Aoun had vowed to call his supporters to stage protests to “reclaim the rights of Christians that have been usurped by the government.”

A heated dispute erupted at Thursday's cabinet session between Prime Minister Tammam Salam and Foreign Minister Jebran Bassil over the issue.

Of course the Caporal must be very proud of the declarations of "little gangster" who wants to be "Khalife at the place of the Khalife"

The Future Movement has been in power since the 1990's. They enshrined corruption and gave us 70 billion dollars debt. They worked with the Syrian occupation and insisted on keeping their privileges after the Syrian left (no thanks to them). They destroyed their opposition with the Sunni sect. They hired Christians contractors like Saeid, Harb and the Gemayel family. Despite all this, FPM and others are willing to put that aside and work with them for the good of Lebanon. They refuse. The want the egg, it's shell, the chicken pen, the house, the village and the whole god damn country. You claim that the FPM works only for Aoun family members denying them their achievements (Bassil has been arrested and bashed multiple times during the Syrian occupation before he met the General's daughter at an FPM function). People like Gibran Bassil are Lebanese to be proud off.

No they were not. They were the store front only, the manager in the background were always Assad and HA. When Harriri wanted to veer off from his subservient role he was quickly and violently eliminated (along with many others). When his Son wanted to veer off he was undercut and his Government collapsed and now forced to seek safety abroad. Then we had 3 full years of HA running the store front directly with Miqati, Yes M8 in full control for over 3 years during which Lebanon's economy collapsed and the national debt skyrocketed to the $70B you are mentioning. M8 even liberated B3abda from President Sleiman. With every sin M8 commits against the Lebanese their sphere of power and influence shrinks more and more. Yours is a culture of death, death of people and nations.

You guys just cant stand him because he speaks the truth, calls for equal rights and exposes your Christian contractors. You want to talk about families, your whole feudal March 14 group is about families and titles like Sheik and Bayk. Look at the FPM. Saad Harriri, Bahiyi Harriri, Ahmad Harriri, some other Harriri I cant remember the name of, and plenty more Harriris.

The General returned the rights to the Christians in the 2009 election that's why Gebran Bassil won twice as many vote as all the others combined in Batroun.

Missing rami.batroun 11 July 2015, 17:06

Gibran got the largest individual vote count in the election. He didn't have a strong enough second candidate from the mountains who could pick up the feudal votes from sophisticated March 14 family voters.

In this case Rami, Gebran should tell everyone he wants to return the rights to the Christians who will only vote for him, because the way you see it all the others have no buisness having the right to vote. Besides if Bassil really got the largest individual vote count in the election he'd be MP. B

That's right M14ers Dhimmis always attack. smart M8ers polite comments. The appointment of Abbas Ibrahim in the traditionally Christian post is proof that General Aoun is no Dhimmi. (: - keep it up.

You would arm the Syrians to kill Lebanese and u would join them too. Just like you joined the Palestinians in killing Lebanese. The question is would you arm anti- Assad, non-Sunni Syrian refugees?
