Jordan's opposition Islamists urged Arab rulers to draw lessons from the death of Libyan strongman Moammar Gadhafi, saying his demise heralded a new era in the region.

"The death of Gadhafi was the logical end of any tyrant," Zaki Bani Rsheid, head of the Islamic Action Front (IAF) political bureau, told Agence France Presse.

"It is a new stage for the Arab world. There is no longer a place for repression. Arab regimes must draw lessons and introduce real change."

The powerful IAF is the political arm of Jordan's Muslim Brotherhood.

Gadhafi was killed Thursday when fighters of the new regime assaulted his hometown and final bastion Sirte.

A few hours after his death, dozens of jubilant people celebrated outside the Libyan embassy in the Jordanian capital.

The free people of the ME should not replace one secular dictatorship with a religious one and vice versa. The path to prosperity, happiness, democracy, and economical growth and well being is not through the Mosque nor is it through ruthless uneducated Generals. The road is long but very rewarding, the most important thing is tolerance, forgiveness, rule of Law and education among others. The people should stop listening to these snakes the so called religious clergy that only preach intolerance so they can stay in control of every aspect of people's lives and stiffle innovation and development and coerce education. The people of the ME have to accept that this diverse region is for EVERYONE Christian, Muslim, Druze, Shiite, Kurd, Jew, Athiests.... If you feel the urge to compete then do it through constructive peaceful means by competing over the best idea to advance your region and your peoples' well being and the world's.... the possibilities are endless!! Great potential! God Sped!
