Hariri Meets Biden, Vows to Fight Hizbullah 'Extremism'
إقرأ هذا الخبر بالعربيةEx-PM Saad Hariri held talks Friday with U.S. Vice President Joe Biden in Washington and noted that his Mustaqbal movement is fighting the “extremism” of Hizbullah and other groups.
A statement issued by Hariri's office said the White House meeting focused on the situation in Lebanon and the latest developments in the region, “particularly what is happening in Syria, Iraq and Yemen."
“We are fighting the various forces of extremism whether Hizbullah or al-Qaida, because our project is based on building the state and supporting moderation that is contrary to the policies of chaos that the party is building,” Hariri had earlier told al-Mustaqbal officials during a meeting in Washington.
He accused Hizbullah of paralyzing Lebanon's political life.
Hariri stressed that Mustaqbal's dialogue with Hizbullah, which was launched under Speaker Nabih Berri's sponsorship in December, helps reduce Sunni-Shiite tension in the country and “constitutes a safety valve for all the Lebanese who are afraid of civil war.”
“It is impossible to agree with Hizbullah’s policies inside Lebanon or abroad,” he said, adding “we are against what Hizbullah is doing in Syria, Iraq, Yemen but this does not stop us from working as much as we can to protect Lebanon.”
Concerning the barrage of Hizbullah criticism directed at Saudi Arabia over its airstrike campaign targeting Yemen's Shiite Huthi rebels, Hariri said: “The violent rhetoric and screams that you hear are nothing but words caused by the decisive storm in the face of the Huthis’ coup against the constitutional legitimacy in Yemen with the support of Iran.”
“They did not expect Saudi Arabia to take the initiative to save Yemen for the benefit of Arabism,” he told the Mustaqbal officials in reference to Hizbullah.
Since March 26, the Saudi-led coalition has been pounding the Huthis and allied fighters loyal to Yemen's ousted President Ali Abdullah Saleh.
G.K./Y.R.
the voice of the saudi hypocrite more like. let him start by fighting extremism in his own country before giving us lessons. lebanon has no lessons to take from saudia, especially not in matter of extremism.
funny when mowaten of iran speaks about "us in lebanon". Everybody here knows you are an iranian shia, so stop the BS.
flamethrower I am now convinced more than anytime before you work for somebody and your job is to incite and spread rumors. Post the link/article where it says the ISF released those prisoners as a bribe?
The truth is there are reports 2 saudis who served their jail term since 2007 and whose jail term ended went back to their country. Do you expect them to stay in Lebanon after they served their sentence?
yes Marcus, it is flamethrower's opinion that KSA paid $3billion in bribes in the form of military equipment to the LAF to get 2 of its citizens out of jail. That is flamethrower's highly valued opinion.
he..
hehe
hehehaha
ohohohohoho
yeehahahahahahaaa
his t.v (future t.v) station is secular, most of their women are not veiled(meaning they hires other religions too). they also dont have war montage every hour telling sunnis to go fight for the wattan (not even lebanon) he also puts the national anthem and the Lebanese flag on his t.v station all the time. and doesn't have a show with a cleric expalining shariaa law to lebanese "callers" and telling them how to live by it. lastly on easter Sunday his t.v channle aired easter mass!! now Hezbollah's mannar has all the all veiled women, the cleric shariaa law show, the war montage for el wattan but not lebanon, and finally no easter mass on their t.v station
so again mouwaten i urge you to watch their t.v stations which are thr mouth piece for each party. and then come back to me and confirm all i have mentioend to you on repeated occasions.
the only time when flamethrower is not making a fool of himself, is when it's vomiting sectarian hatred and vice versa. no use arguing with such slime.
Yes Mr. Hariri fight the terror party's extremism by having useless dialogue with them. You fight not with words but with weapons. Did your attempts to defuse sunni-shim tension succeed? Did the chief terrorist not inflame this tension with his weekly emotional speeches? Live and learn, I guess you won't learn.
With real words, Hariri vows to fight for takfirism. Him going to the U.S makes him think he is holy or something.
The Wahabis speaks through this youngster, they have the nerve to speak about extremists.
To all Ebola idiots,
You can insult me as much as you like and accuse me of Wahhabism, Saudism, Takfirism, Boko Haramism, Daechism...I do not care. I am a pure patriot who loves Lebanon ONLY and who will never ever sell his soul to another Evil country.
But if I accuse you of being agents and traitors to Ebola and Iran, this is an absolutely truthful accusation.
You are khaddam to evil souls and cannot defend yourselves, because this is what you REALLY ARE.
I just read an article where Hussein Hajj Hasan said that we should buy Lebanese pharmaceuticals. Isn't it the same party who exports illegal drugs. Well documented in Lebanon, Europe and other countries. The Party of God is promoting legal drugs?
Well said.
The word Hezbollah next to Lebanon's name has tarnished Lebanon's image abroad and trying to change Lebanon's history, culture and politics. There is nothing Lebanese about Hezbollah. They should be called an Iranian party and banished just like Egypt did with the Brotherhood.
(1). Personally I am not too hot on the Hariris, but truth must be told. Saad Hariri won decisively two consecutive general elections. Twice he was forced by Hezbollah and its M8 coalition to political cohabitation. For years, his M14 coalition had to go through one decimating assassination after the other of several of its elected representatives and till now only a thick veil reigns over all investigations. Lebanon saw one catastrophe after the other, occupation of entire areas of Beirut by HA and M8, wars and wars and all instigated by Hezbollah, going as far as M8 forming a so-called coalition government. Hariri was from day one wanting to incept a nation of peace, prosperity and hope for all the Lebanese, when all that Hezbollah wanted was a nation it led and into all sorts of sordid ventures and all for the love of a Syrian and Iranian dictator's survival.
(2). The Hariris tried moderation, the moderates of Lebanon's Sunnis tried moderation, and truth must be told, the vast majority of Lebanon's Sunnis are moderates, but when you repeatedly stifle the moderates, it then becomes only a matter of time when the radicals move in and take over from the moderates. So what Hezbollah and its M8 lackeys got in return but now having to fight wars in Syria and Yemen? There too in those countries, was it not moderates that were trying to make some headway till they got sidelined by the radicals? In Lebanon it so happens that those who are facing Hezbollah are as numerically important and they too have weapons, then we have a state that is trying to stand on its feet.
(3). The moderates of Lebanon now have the impetus back with them and this time are facing it up squarely to the likes of Hezbollah, surely Hezbollah partisans know now that the challenge to their militia's attempted hegemony of Lebanon is now in serious jeopardy, thus no wonder we're seeing all this rancorous, corrosive, acidic, sulphuric, procrastinate, and acrimonious language by Hezbollah itself, M8, and their combined partisans. In the Middle East the winds are changing again and no matter what Hezbollah may try or say, what is being shaped here and in the region will continue its way.
