Asir to Mustaqbal Supporters: Hariri Has Put You in Confrontation with Jihadists

Fugitive Islamist cleric Ahmed al-Asir on Wednesday warned the supporters of al-Mustaqbal movement in Lebanon of a possible “confrontation” with the militants of the Islamic State group and al-Nusra Front, in an apparent response to remarks by former premier Saad Hariri.

“Hariri has implicated his movement's leadership and members in a war against the jihadists, at a time (Progressive Socialist Party chief Walid) Jumblat is seeking to preserve his sect by saying that al-Nusra Front is not terrorist,” Asir said on his official Twitter account.

Jumblat had on Tuesday rejected the U.N.'s designation of al-Nusra as a terrorist group, noting that it is “comprised of Syrian citizens.” His remarks followed a statement from Rome by Hariri, who stressed that “the IS are terrorists who have fought the Lebanese citizens and army and we will fight them.”

“Do the sons of al-Mustaqbal movement understand what future Hariri has prepared for them by declaring war on the Islamic State?” Asir said.

“From his own safe place, and in the name of his entire movement, Hariri declared war against the jihadists, but what about the security of the rest of al-Mustaqbal movement's supporters?” Asir warned.

Describing his remarks as “an advice to al-Mustaqbal movement's sons,” the fugitive cleric added: “Beware that Hariri has put you in a confrontation with the jihadists of the Islamic State and al-Nusra Front who are defending our religion and honor.”

“A war declaration is a statement that cannot be said randomly and it will have major repercussions, so anyone belonging to Hariri's (movement) must reevaluate their calculations very well,” Asir cautioned.

The Islamist cleric is wanted by Lebanese authorities and has been on the run since the 2013 deadly battle with the Lebanese army in the Sidon suburb of Abra.

He has only appeared in one video and a couple of audio recordings, in addition to his rare tweets.

Some media reports say he sought refuge at the Ain el-Hilweh Palestinian refugee camp as others say he has joined jihadists in the Syrian Qalamun region, where the militants are engaging in near-daily clashes with Hizbullah and the Syrian army.

Assir was right for being outspoken against Hezbollah, but wrong for being a Salafi and attacking the army. Even if the army is under control of Hezbollah, that doesn't mean you attack the army. He should have attacked Hezbollah instead. And now he's making it worse by supporting Daesh and Nusra.

27 minutes ago LBCI: Shells fired from the Syrian side of the border have landed in the towns of Hikr Janine and Qashlaq in Akkar.

Come on southern, show your support for your fellow citizens in these villages that are being bombed on a daily basis by your idol, Bashar Assad. Show us the same contrition you showed today re the death of the syrian terrorist, head of the pro-regime National Defense Force militia.!

Missing peace 15 October 2014, 21:00

no! for M8ers the shells falling on akkar are by terrorists that sneak through bashar's controlled area ....

Hiding under a rock dressed like a woman or perhaps at some KSA Resort somewhere drinking cocktails, , who cares what this terrorist scumbag says?

Default-user-icon JCAmerican (Guest) 16 October 2014, 12:33

your comment is irrelevant and not necessary true

Default-user-icon JCWilliams (Guest) 16 October 2014, 17:19

JC? Maybe irrelevant but not as irrelevant as a fugitive threatening a billionaire for miscalculation. Not necessarily true? I don't know where the scumbag who got his followers killed fighting the Lebanese Army is, do not care how he dresses or what he drinks. He is a terrorist and an idiot and deserves his ultimate fate.

Asir was created to be a thorn in the eye of al-Mustaqbal movement and Saad Hariri, he's earning his pay.

The LAF killer still on the loose, and still talking crap. Only one way ticket to the deepest hellfire, awaits this salafi minion.

If I may also mention, that he had to dress himself up with the womens Niqab, in order to sneak out of Saida.

This coward has no honor, the same I can say, to those in here whom support him.

Assir on the battlefield ya da3ish? He fled disguised as a woman, while his salafi people died protecting him, I do not see any fighting there.

Atleast Sayed Hassan, has been fighting in the Civil war, and is a tested field commander too, and sacrificed his own son to liberate the South.

Where is your hero Assir? He is the one hiding in some sewer.

Thumb lubnani.masi7i 15 October 2014, 23:27

Mystic, can you tell us why and where nasrallah is hiding?

Thumb ashtah 15 October 2014, 21:42

The Sunnis of Lebanon are traditionally peaceful people. Even during the civil war they hardly participated. I doubt Assir's words will have any impact on the mainstream Sunni community. Having said that, I sense a great deal of frustration within the same community at the unfair and unbalanced practices of certain government agencies. If these issues are not addressed soon, I am afraid Hariri's moderate stances will not stand anymore.

ISIS exists because of ASSad. HezbCocaine not only undermines our security, institutions and political assistance, but is also on track to compromise our foreign relations, ruin our financial system, and destroy whatever remains of our social cohesion.

I couldn't help but comment on this one:
22 minutes ago The Pentagon said airstrikes killed "several hundred" IS extremists in Kobane, but warned that the fall of the Syrian Kurdish town is still possible.

But, according to flamethrower:
"flamethrower.-.
21 air raids wow. and no mention about the isis casualties? why? because there was no air raids to begin with. we're just taking the media's word for it."

LOL

Basically, this is just February 14 Saudi-Wahabi-sponsored attempt to make Hariri look better. By having a known salafist jihadist terrorist filth (with the blood of the Lebanese Army on his hands) criticize Hariri, it makes Hariri appear more "moderate" and "anti-terrorist" and "pro-Army".

The thing is, nobody is falling for this again. It is well-known that the February 14 Saudi-Wahabi coalition subscribes to the same ideology as Assir, FSA-Al Qaeda-ISIS, and various other jihadist terrorist organizations. One group grows beards, the other doesn't, but their ideology, culture, and ultimate objectives are virtually identical.

Thumb nickjames 16 October 2014, 00:26

Looooool at Karim the Alawi's impressive narrative... Let's take all Sunnis and combine them into one group. Do you realise the Sunnis fight among themselves?? You always say death to the FSA-Nusra terrorists, and you don't think for a second that they fight against each other. In some battles FSA and Nusra allied against Daesh, but Nusra teamed up with the Islamic Front against FSA in other battles. It's just like when Amal fought Hezbollah, or when Aoun fought Geagea. Christians fight Christians, Shia fight Shia, and Sunnis fight Sunnis.

Thumb liberty 16 October 2014, 07:52

I love it when big john makes statements like this
"Assir is funded by the same people future is allied with. Also, the future movement "
I am not going to ask you to prove it, because Lebanese always have the information, always.
