Damascus Decides to Freeze Relations with Jumblat
إقرأ هذا الخبر بالعربيةProgressive Socialist Party leader MP Walid Jumblat received a verbal message from Syrian President Bashar Assad informing him that Damascus has decided to freeze relations with the MP for the time being, al-Liwaa newspaper reported.
Last week, Assad criticized Jumblat’s statements in which he advised former Prime Minister Saad Hariri to follow his example and refrain from getting involved in developments in Syria, informed sources told the daily.
They noted that Damascus informed the Druze leader that it doesn’t need “advice not from friends and allies, we know what we should do” regarding the crisis.
More than 2,600 people have been killed in Syria since massive pro-democracy protests erupted across the country in mid-March, according to the United Nations.
However, Assad's media adviser Bouthaina Shaaban said that 1,400 people, including 700 army and security officials, have been killed in the violence.
for now: fe5ar ykasser ba3do
& later: 2alla byeb2a bi dabro la jumblat 3al 3iyal yalle mdaba7a bel jabal

@benzona, not only do you want him, but you will forgive him and re-appoint him your leader. So now Jumblat is no longer threatened as you used to say (or be told) when this criminal flip-flopped! Strange! But then how different are you from the others who keep forgiving anf forgetting those who keep stabbing them from all sides? Once a low-life, always a low-life. Enjoy him while you can.
True: Syria's 1st family board of directors knows full well what it only can do: fierce repression and nothing else.
There are growing fears that Lebanese leaders & opinion makers (neutral or non fully supportive to Syria & HB ) may be targeted by so called ''radical sunni groups''. Accusations will point at M14 & their sunni component and would benefit M8 , Syria's regime & those who are against the STL . This may be an empirical scenario, but given the present situation, Mr Jumblatt & the Patriarch could be ( god & security measures forbiding..) prime targets.
Naharnet and the media are behind on this issue . . . it has been weeks in the making, The butcher Bashar wanted Jumblatt to arm the Druze in the mountain and use them as proxy as he does with others and Walid refused and stated that the reason he has taken the various stands was to ensure calm among various Lebanese factions (basically not to start a civil war as it almost did in May 7th). Also, Jumblatt has regained the trust of the Druze in Jabal aldruze in Syria and that irked the Eye doctor.... So, they are trying to isolate him . . .
I am not a big fan of a guy he pretend to be socialist and is the biggest capitalist in his area and acts like a dictator most of the time! But, he is key to Peace and Stability so I will not write him off ..... as of yet
@knight templar. Same old boring and lame argument. Do you not remember it was kill or be killed. And as history has it the Christians started the war against the Druze. Maybe if people would only remember the days of the civil war, they would make wiser decisions today. And for those who don't want jomblat back, remember there is no m14 without him. He was what made m14. And think outside the box for a change. May 7th happens all the sudden he jumps ship?! He got the message of civil war, why didn't you?? And he was let down by his m14 'friends'. Out of the m14 forces who helped defeat hizbo in the shout ??
MinLibnan, you make a very weak not credible argument. The Christians did not start the war against the druze, what is the action that they took against the druze to start the war. How did March 14 not support Jumblatt during May 7th, you make too general of statements, you need to substantiate your argument. Jumblatt sits back and watches the balance of power, after the Cedar Revolution, he sided with what he thought was going to be the ruling party in Lebanon and no he isn't March 14th, Mustaqbal is the most prominent member of March 14th followed by the Lebanese Forces than PSP. State facts, not arbitrary comments, you than may sound informed.
you guys are so far from reality.. jumblat is a minority leader in a country where if you're not a wolf you will be eaten by DOGS... he needs to do what he's doing to protects himself and his peoples.. dont forget when M8 attacked the mountain only the druze fighters stood and fight with bare arms and died in their lands all alone.. they didn't get any of you nor your leaders any help or support.. and for this guy Knight templar i suggest for you to forget and forgive because many other druze where massacred during "jabal war" and they already forgot..
and as of MC comment i think he was miss-informed.. ya hilou without jumblat there is no march 14 and to prove it look what happened when he stepped out of it ... where is March 14 ? you guys just dont know politics.. and please explain where did the help come from during the fight in jabal ?? please let me know because im an ignorant and i dont ..
Yalla Walid Bayk...go away from the losers...the butcher will soon be finished and with him the "Divine party" and the Caporal of Rabiyeh...
This explain the influence of the sectarian leaders on the political life.....My friend Lebanon is not a democratic country and the people are LUI ( Living Under Influence)....
A boat has as many captain as you want......
MrBrain
FaridZ, you are ignorant, let me follow your logic here, you are saying that Hizzbullah took a fight to the druze and the druze had to pick up arms and defend themselves. So, while Beirut was under siege, the army stood aside and watched, you are angry that no one picked weapons and fought along your side so to punish them, you left their alliance and joined the very ones that attacked you in the first place. Truly you are ignorant.
you're funny MC (to punish them) what is this kinder garden ??? its a matter of survival here.. you can act like you have balls and watch people dying but you dont have balls to come and help (just send few peoples to make sandwiches to the fighters ya khayyi thats all) jumblat felt betrayed from everyone all those allies and even countries who basically acted like they support the cedar revolution .. we were betrayed my friend and dont you think that we agreed on what jumblat did when he left march14 we didn't like it and we disapprove it but i guess when you're a leader and a politician in lebanon sometimes you need to do things to protect your own peoples.. i never imagined saad harriri to visit syria after all ... BUT HE DID .. tell me who's the ignorant now ... with all do respect though ..
