Mustaqbal-Berri Tensions Persist as Beydoun Calls on Him to Resign

Tensions between the Mustaqbal movement, Speaker Nabih Berri, and their respective allies have persisted in the wake of the Mustaqbal daily’s publication of a WikiLeaks cable in which the speaker encouraged attacks against Hizbullah during the July 2006 war.
On this note, former minister Mohammed Abdul Hamid Beydoun called on Berri to resign seeing as the leaked U.S. Embassy cable revealed that he “says one thing and does the opposite on the exact same day.”
He told the daily An Nahar in remarks published on Saturday: “It appears that he is only committed to maintaining his position in power.”
The daily reported Mustaqbal circles as saying that the revelations of the WikiLeaks cable “had a major impact” among Hizbullah and AMAL, which forced them to divert attention away from Berri through launching a political campaign against the Mustaqbal movement.
Informed political sources told al-Liwaa daily on Saturday that contacts are underway among the highest ranking officials to ease the tensions between the speaker and the movement in an effort to prevent the tensions from spilling over onto the street.
They added that the recent meeting between President Michel Suleiman and the head of the Mustaqbal bloc MP Fouad Saniora may have likely addressed the ongoing dispute.

I am amazed at how Berri and his political thugs have responded to the Wikileaks reports...... Nassrallah used Wikileaks as a Bible and Quran when the reports suited him to discredit his political opponents. However, when the same source (Wikileaks) provides information about some of his allies, hell breaks loose. Nassrallah admitted he sponsored Al Akhbar newspaper to retrieve and publish some wikileaks cables which he felt would incriminate March 14 figures.However, when Al Mustaqbal newspaper publishes reports leaked by Wikileaks verbatim, it is subjected to accusations of treason and intimidation, etc. You cannot have your cake and eat it too !

Those guys should know you can't have it both ends. You can't applaude to the revelations of Wikileaks when it says something embarassing about your political opponents, to Elias Murr or Saad Hariri, have Al Manar show it, built some political leverage on it, and when it,s your turn to go through the mixer, back off and try to justify yourself! You can't applaude to the arab uprising everywhere, call for the fall of the dictators and then when it's the truc of the syrian and Iranian dictators ' par excellence' support them (worse than that, is when Ahmedi , and khamenei, those butchers in disguise, give democracy lessons to others!). You can't rule a govermnemt unconstitutional cause it is applying a majority democratic rule, and then abide by it when you're in power, especially if it's through a ' coup d' état' ! This goes to show how much of foul players those guys are, on top of being murderers in the case of Hizbollah, and hostage takers! Well done Mustaqbal!

BigDig, why your are so concerned about these politicians???? what's wrong with you and the rest of arab-jarab in lebanon that give so much importance to it's politician who have done nothing but harm the whole country , muslims and christians. alike I suggest you take a vacation for couple of months outside of lebanon , go out and see the world and compare to the rat hole your dear politicians created for you to live in. And stop blaming the west. it is you who take up arms against your brother, it is you who do not respect you country's laws and it is your who are ignorant and living in 3rd century BC. Think as Lebanese and we will be the best as we were
