Grenade Targets Tripoli Bakery in New Ramadan-Linked Attack
إقرأ هذا الخبر بالعربيةA hand grenade was hurled Thursday near a bakery in the northern city of Tripoli, in the second such attack in two days.
LBCI television said the explosive device targeted a popular Manakish bakery on the Ezzeddine Street.
It said the business was apparently attacked because it continued to serve food during Ramadan's daylight fasting hours.
A car parked in the location was damaged by the explosion.
On Wednesday, a grenade thrown into a cafe hurt four people in Tripoli's Bab al-Tabbaneh area.
The attacks come after cafes and restaurants were recently warned against opening during daylight fasting hours in Ramadan in text messages and on social media.
Last month, Tripoli municipal chief Nader Ghazal called on cafes and eateries in the city to "respect the sanctity of the holy month of Ramadan and particularly fasting Muslims."
The call caused controversy, with activists saying it was a breach of personal freedom. But Ghazal said it was a voluntary request, and that those who did not comply would not face punishment.
Lebanon is regarded as one of the most liberal countries in the Middle East, and even during Ramadan many cafes and restaurants remain open throughout the country to serve non-Muslims or those choosing not to fast.

No tex, despites all what m8 folks will come and say, political leaders in tripoli as karabara, jisr, ahdab, alouch(eventhought men el deniyeh) arenot that fanatic in fact a lot more open minded than what our dear m8 folks want us to believe...
On the other side hachem minkara, said chaaban : m8 suni friends and alternative to moustakbal are not... In fact most event like this in el mina are done by minkara supporters... Not so different from
Hezbos in baalbak (the temple of bakus god od wine)...
Anyway the solution is secular state, all under the same law, a civil law...
And a lot of chupachups..
Imagine ... You justify these attacks and always blame others. Why? Can't you just state your second last sentence and end with a full stop?
Their is a big problem regarding these fanatics in Lebanon... We need to stop covering up the issues by blaming others. Moderate Muslims must confront these people!
no, partition is not a solution, a border wont stop the terrorists (if it was the case, we wouldnt have problems with those coming from syria, would we?)
partition would only serve to divide and weaken us further, opening the doors to wars between partionned areas and making them more vulnerable to foreign invasions (whether from israel, takfiris, or even syria)
anonyme: if the army does anything, you guys will all whine and cry that the LAF is "persecuting sunnis", as you do each time they catch terrorists and their caches of explosives
having said this, i'm totally in favor of a tough and rapid crackdown on these intolerant extremists
I totally agree..Want to be clear to the rest that you are not justifying the sickness of the terrorists as we lived the Tawheed-Minkara days when his boys entered the shops and forced the non-Muslim owners memorize 50 Quaran readings before releasing them.
My bad... I still cannot think of hezbos as high up, i usually tend to concider them deep down...
Hachem minkara, saiid chaaban... I don't really know if our dear m8 supporters on this forum knows who are those guys really are...
Anyway chupachups for me i guess...
Or maybe ask the guys behind tripoli bombings?...
or asks the guys who let chaker el abssi free and sent it to lebanon...
or ask the guys who fabricated abou adass...
Chupachups flame, chupachups...
U may my friend tex, u may...
I wonder is our fellow fpm on this forum are too young to remembers those days or just chose to forget...
Do you remember the prophet Mohamed cartoon protests that destroyed churches and ashrafiyie neighbourhoods? Do you remember hariri and jumblatt justifing the crack down in 2001 after the Batrak visited jamhour? when Elias el murr's thugs belted the protesters in front of the justice ministry (museum)? Almost every lebanese party (except the lf and kaateb) was against the FPM movement back then during the Syrian occupation.
Who legalised the hizb bit tahrir? The jamaa islamiehia? All those tripoli based salafists after 2005? Who forced the release of those dinniehy terrorists to approve with geageas release?
Addo in front ahbach, as well as in mtv and habriel el murr, as well as first tv apparition of the all mighty general on tv end of the 90's not only kataeb, but also LF, ahrar, leftist (bila houdoud, yassar democrati, even comunists some of them got sacked by the party for demonstrating with fpm/kataeb/lf....)
So no fpm was not along then bayen el matarineh then ernet chehwenn in fact all actual march14 was with it...
Do i really need to remind u or u just chose to forget..
I await the day when I will read ONE meaningful post, ONE counter argument, ONE credible or mature info from you, flamethrower._ , but alas!
anonymetexasusa... I'm not resorting to lies! I was there. Those attacking and arresting the peacefull protesters that were chanting "yalla, souria tla la ba3rra" were beaten by Elias el murr's police while he was the interior minister!
When the law was presented to parliament... The mustaqbul mps would only approve geagea's release if it included the dinniehy salafists that were arrested in 2000. The Syrians were the ones that arrested them! Come on tex.... Thought you were better then that!
When geagea was to be sent out karameh made heroic sunni charaf speeches so that to calm down sunni population then they had to free islamists (in fact most of them are still jailed and no trial bc the courtroom is to small.. So cut off the crap
And please can u tell me wich manifestation u r talking about, i was in most of them but if u have trouble to remember look to 7august see who was there which youth, which parties, maybe memory will come back, wlek tfouh
And by the journal archives are still there u know al nahar yes the journal with the so critised jebran tweini... Just look to the archives
U don't even deserve a chupachups man
No justification but we have to point the cause, the cause of raising extremism suni in lebanon is hezbollah, by weakening hariri (he chose to confront them with hachem minkara and saiid chaaban in tripoli; u know who are those guys), by acting above all law i wont repeat myself..
Rising of suni extremism in syria is bc of UN failed to protect peacefull protesters for more than 11month (shiite millitia hezbollah, irak, iranians also helped) in irak maliki is pissing on them for years now... So what do u expect if no help is coming from international comunity to whom will they turn...
Fpm guys in comtrary to acknowledge those fact approve all hezbos move and even pointing to the fact th hezbos is dragging us more in that shit, only that fact put is in the takfiri/zionist/ksa/imperialist....group
anonyme your first comment made sense, this one stinks of dellusion and blindness. m14 has the upper hand in tripoli and controls most of the security apparatus of the country, if anyone's "green light" is required to make a move in tripoli it's theirs
So then, what will the new name for Lebanon be? Islamic State of Lebanon? You can all bitch on this web site but the fact is its too late!! Islam is taking over your country, Christians will leave or be gotton rid of. Nothing anyone can do about it, its too late!!!
Yes u thought it could only happens in dahoyeh, baalbak, south... Or in front of iranian ambassi...
No i see fanatics can be everywhere, from anybackground or religion (look at christians in central africa, south soudan)...
U see karim
Everyday u learn something new, now bravo
Time for ur chupachups...
Lebanon? is Gone... Stop saying Lebanon is the place to live and prosper... Amazing, the only solution is for the Lebanese and Government there is a problem, however all I hear everything is OK. If you can't admit you have problems you can't solve them because you can't acknowledge them....
Great "religion of peace" they have there...and they wonder why the rest of the world distrusts them?
