Ban: Lebanon, Israel Agree to Discuss Maritime Security

United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon revealed on Friday that Lebanon and Israel agreed to discuss issues of maritime security through a tripartite mechanism and the possible assistance of local experts, reported the pan-Arab daily al-Hayat on Saturday.
He made the announcement in a report he presented to the U.N. Security Council.
He added that Lebanon and Israel also agreed to a recent U.N. Interim Force in Lebanon initiative to place markers on disputed areas along the Blue Line.
In addition, Ban asserted that UNIFIL completed its suggestion over security arrangements needed for the Israeli army to withdraw from the northern section of the village of Ghajar.
Furthermore, he said that the international force, along with the Lebanese army, is working on establishing an arms-free zone between the Blue Line and Litani River.
UNIFIL made its proposal on June 25 and it has yet to be officially adopted, he revealed.
The U.N. Secretary General also highlighted Prime Minister Najib Miqati’s recent announcement that the Lebanese government is committed to U.N. Security Council resolution 1701 and maintaining the army’s cooperation with UNIFIL.
Ban concluded the report by advising the Security Council to extend UNIFIL’s mandate for another year.
Its term ends in August.

Has Hizballah finally allowed someone other than itself to negotiate with Israel? Amazing indeed, now that they have the government, we will allow it to negotiate so we can give it some form of credit.

To roger@10452: Maybe it is better to have those that gave up more 850Km in the previous negotiations negotiate for Lebanon again. They may receive another payoff. I am sure you think they will do a better job.

With Israel is more progress than with the radical terrorist of Hezbollah. They might be both with the same radical policy in the region, meanwhile Hezbollah dream is to create problem with Israel and the dream for the Islamic republic in Lebanon. Hezbollah continous attempt to hijack Lebanon into its personal problems of radicalism, Nasizmo policy by promoting hate to Jews and Christians. Hezbollah does not represent the entire religion community and Hezbollah attitude is most likely the same attitude of the drug lords who are fighting for their power like we have seen in north America, they would use every tool to hijack the community first and the region. Hezbollah is more threat to the Lebanese Independance and people including the national security.

Great news, the Israeli army is to withdraw from the northern section of the village of Ghajar that the Resistance lost in it's 2006 total victory... I know, I know it makes no sense but Sayyed Hassan said so and he's the one with the brain it's illegal for the rest of us to use one.

It is bad if Israel will get its hands on oil first, just like Hezbollah will try to hijack Lebanon enable to secure the oil field for its own use, which is the Islamic state of Lebanon. Lebanon and Lebanese have three major enemies: 1- Hezbollah-Hezboshaitan
2- The zionist regime
3- The Syrian regime
All have a radical policy unwanted in the region.
They will do their best to destroy the future of Lebanon as a result of their jealousy and maddness for power including cash.
The only thing they dont understand that Lebanon is not Syria, Iran or Israel.
Lebanon is the Phoenician land of cedars.
