Progressive Socialist Party leader Walid Jumblat said Monday that he discussed with Turkish officials the situation in Lebanon, the events in Syria and the inter-Palestinian reconciliation.

In remarks to As Safir daily following his return from Turkey, Jumblat lauded the Turkish stance from all issues.

The governing Justice and Development Party (AKP) has always stood by the Arab and Palestinian cause, Jumblat said.

During his visit to Turkey, the Druze leader met with Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu.

Jumblat’s remarks came as the Kuwaiti al-Anbaa daily reported that he would meet with former PM Saad Hariri in Istanbul but al-Mustaqbal newspaper quoted high-ranking source as saying on Monday that Hariri is currently in Jeddah and has no intention to travel to Turkey.

The sources added that Hariri’s schedule doesn’t include meetings outside Jeddah.

Turkey is not the model of democracy that we want, turkey still suppresses the Kurds and most importantly Turkey have treated the Christian Orthodox who are the real natives with iron fist and in plain English trying to exterminate all teachings of Christianity on its soil ,the Turks may have a stand aginst the Syrian regime but it is far from being a decent one that cares about innocent lives like they claim.Jumblatt should stay away from foreign trips and talking to so called leaders,it is meaningless and accomplish nothing

Between Turkey and Syria. No free person will think twice.

Between Turkey and Iran, actually you should not even compare.

If Turkey is not the model to aspire to at least it is a huge step forward.

One more thing, I have already visited all three countries. The people in Turkey are proud to be Turkish, their country is beautiful, clean , organized. People love their country and tend to it. They know that they have a saying, that their government respect them and they will not be abused. They can go to free elections and participate without fear.

People in Syria and Iran hate the regime, hate their countries, will do anything to get a VISA to a European country and escape the injustice in their places. Due to oppression their countries are a shithole, no one cares to it...
