Syrian President Bashar Assad hailed the "resilience" of Iran in striking a landmark nuclear deal with world powers, according to his Facebook page on Wednesday.
"In a telephone call to President Hassan Rouhani of the Islamic Republic of Iran, President Assad reaffirmed the Iranian diplomatic success... leading to the deal with the P5+1 countries."
The posting on Assad's page said the deal was "the result of the Iranian people's resilience, who held onto their rights, and of the Iranian leadership's commitment to the principles of Iran's sovereignty."
The agreement reached on Sunday in Geneva rolls back part of Iran's nuclear work and freezes further advances in exchange for limited relief from sanctions which have choked Iran's economy.
Western nations and Israel have long accused Iran of seeking a nuclear weapons capability alongside its civilian program, charges denied by Tehran, which insists its uranium enrichment is purely for energy and medical research.
The deal followed a decade of deadlock and was finally struck between Iran and the so-called P5+1 group of the United States, Britain, France, China and Russia plus Germany.
Along with Russia and China, Iran is a key supporter of Assad, while the United States, Britain and France back the opposition and have led international calls for the embattled Syrian leader to step down.

I have never seen or read about a regime that lies as much as the Baath party does...
Maybe the sun will stop from shining on earth.. Maybe the moon stops rotating around earth... Maybe the stars will never appear at night... One thing is certain is that the era of the dictator and murderer Bashar is coming to an end... Like it or not!!

lol, like it or not it has been falling everyday since 3 years, and now it fell so much that it is winning the war. but yea, keep repeating the mantra

Bashar Al Assad<3 the hero of the modern time. The man who defied the world and won. He is the first Arabic president to have made world history like this. All you cry babies. Keep crying, Assad is here to stay :D

Why not russian while you are at it?

What makes you think Assad or Iran is secterian?

the syrian regime is composed of all sects, always has been. sunnis, alawis, christians, druze, all are represented.
tell me about your rebels, how many are alawis? how many christian? how many druze? lol. it's so damning i dont understand how you can't see how ridiculous you sound.

anonyme:
shabeehas include all sects
iran is quasi entirely shia so what should they do? import different religions? lol
as for hezbollah, it is true it is rooted in shia populations of lebanon, but it has never shown religious bigotry and has very strong relations with other sects, such as Christians represented the FPM, and many Sunni dignitaries who support the resistance. (several of them have recently been killed by takfiris because of that)
so you can't blame someone for being of this or that religion, but you can judge him by how he behaves with others. if they include others like the syrian regime, or are open to others such as hezollah, or respectful as are iranians with their religious minorities, you cant call them sectarian.
when on the other hand they behead anyone who is from another religion, or abuse them systematically, then they are sectarian and worse than sectarian.

no, as resilient as the syrians' fight against terrorism and obscurantism.

dont need to much resilience to use sarin and scuds...

the chemical issue was not critical, it was being used by the enemies of syria to force a military intervention and keeping those weapons didnt have any real upside.
syria keeping the chemical weapons would have put them at the mercy of any false flag attack. nusra elements were arrested in turkey in possession of sarin gas, meaning they had access, so the risk was too great for no real advantage. chemical weapons can't be used on the inside, and can't be used on outside enemies neither (imagine the world reaction if syria hit israel with CW). so they have no use.
however defeating the takfiris is essential for syria's future, this is where the fight must be fought and they were smart enough to realize that and not waste time and resources and take risks for useless CWs.
