Kuwait Arrests Opposition Figure after Saudi Complaint

Kuwaiti secret police arrested the leader of an opposition youth group early on Wednesday following a complaint from the Saudi embassy, the interior ministry and activists said.

Civil Democratic Movement leader Tareq al-Mutairi was detained after he ignored a summons by the public prosecutor's office over a complaint by the Saudi embassy, the interior ministry said on its Twitter account.

Report: More Lebanese to be Deported from UAE

More Lebanese expats are expected to be expelled from the United Arab Emirates in the upcoming weeks, al-Akhbar newspaper reported on Monday.

Sources following up the conditions of the Lebanese community in UAE quoted officials as saying that the deportation decision will include 120 Lebanese nationals in the upcoming weeks.

More Deported Lebanese Arrive from UAE

Several Lebanese deported from the United Arab Emirates arrived in Beirut on Sunday for the second day in a row, the state-run National News Agency reported.

NNA said the Lebanese nationals residing in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah and Ajman arrived at Rafik Hariri International Airport but refused to talk to the press.

Report: Lebanese Had Received Dozens of Warnings ahead of Their Deportation from UAE

Authorities in the United Arab Emirates took the decision to deport a number of Lebanese from the country due to the suspicious activity they were involved in, said the Kuwaiti daily al-Seyassah on Sunday.

Parliamentary sources from the March 14 camp told the daily that the authorities had issued dozens of warnings to the deported people over the years to cease their suspicious actions.

UAE Decides to Deport 70 Lebanese, Foreign Ministry Stresses They were 'Abiding by Emirati Laws'

The United Arab Emirates will expel 70 Lebanese nationals, mostly Shiites, within the next 24 hours, Foreign Minister Jebran Bassil said Friday.

"The ministry of foreign affairs was informed by the Lebanese embassy in the Emirates that 70 Lebanese will be deported by the authorities in the next 24 hours," Bassil told Agence France Presse.

UAE to Try Kuwaiti ex-MP for 'Inciting Sedition'

The United Arab Emirates said on Sunday it will try a Kuwaiti Islamist ex-MP in absentia for allegedly "inciting sedition" in remarks he made about Abu Dhabi's powerful crown prince.

Mubarak al-Duwailah has been referred to the Federal Supreme Court, the UAE's top court, for "allegedly abusing religion to incite sedition, harm national unity, (and) disturb social peace," WAM news agency reported Attorney General Salim Saeed Kubaish as saying.
