Mustaqbal Denies Link to Tripoli Rally as Hizb ut-Tahrir Remains Adamant on Holding Demo

Al-Mustaqbal movement denied on Thursday that it was involved in calls to hold a demonstration in support of the Syrian people in the northern port city of Tripoli.

The movement said in a statement that some media outlets and politicians were seeking to accuse al-Mustaqbal of involvement in the invitations for a demonstration against Syrian President Bashar Assad’s regime on Friday.

Ban Urges Miqati to Speed Up Govt Formation: Militias Threaten Lebanon, Region Stability

U.N. chief Ban Ki-moon warned on Wednesday that the presence of “militias” in Lebanon continues to threaten security in the country as well as the region, urging a formal border delineation with Syria.

"The delineation of the Syrian-Lebanese border ... has not yet taken place," read Ban’s report on the implementation of Security Council Resolution 1559, which was adopted in 2004 and calls for "the disbanding and disarmament" of all factions in Lebanon.

Israeli Deputy PM: Army Prepared for Any Possible Scenario on Lebanese Border

Israeli Deputy Premier Moshe Ya’alon stated on Wednesday that the Israeli army “is ready for any possible scenario” on the Jewish state’s border with Lebanon.

He said during a tour of the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights: “The developments in Syria are a sign that the people want freedom that the current regime in Damascus cannot provide.”

March 14 Rejects Campaign against Mustaqbal, Jarrah; Warns of New Plan to Create Strife in Lebanon

The March 14 General Secretariat condemned on Wednesday the Syria’s accusations that the Mustaqbal movement is meddling in Syria’s internal affairs.

It said in a statement after its weekly meeting: “Hizbullah has taken advantage of the Syrian campaign to attack the movement and accuse it of Syria’s fabricated accusations in order to settle scores with the March 14 forces after its repeated demands that the party be disarmed.”

Kidnapped Estonians Beg for Help in Online Video

An unauthenticated video uploaded to YouTube late Tuesday shows seven Estonians kidnapped last month in eastern Lebanon begging Lebanese, Saudi, Jordanian, and French leaders to help them return home.

A local website received a tip Wednesday of the undated video, uploaded on April 19 by a user named thekidnaper2011.

PM-designate Denies Preparations for Miqati-Suleiman Visit to Damascus

Syria's government approved on Tuesday a bill to rescind a decades-old emergency law and agreed to abolish the state security court, after weeks of pro-democracy protests and hundreds of deaths.
