Clijsters on Track for French Open

Kim Clijsters is on track to be fit in time for the French Open following the ankle injury she sustained while at a cousin's wedding, her physiotherapist told the Het Nieuwsblad newspaper.

"Kim is able to walk about without crutches, She needs some four to six weeks to complete her recovery. We are perfectly on track," said Sam Verslegers.

Monte Carlo Now Seventh Heaven for Nadal

Rafael Nadal pronounced himself "a lucky guy" after sweeping to a seventh straight title at the Monte Carlo Masters by dispatching fellow Spaniard David Ferrer 6-4, 7-5 on Sunday.

"It would have been impossible to imagine a few years ago winning seven titles here," Nadal said after a victory in two hours and 16 minutes, his 12th of 16 against his good friend. "I'm a lucky guy to have done this by age 24."

Vettel Storms to Pole in China

World championship leader Sebastian Vettel breezed to pole position for Sunday's Chinese Grand Prix after his Red Bull left Britain's Jenson Button trailing 0.7 seconds back in second place.

The 23-year-old German clocked a lap of one minute 33.706 seconds in Saturday's qualifying session, the fastest ever time recorded at the Shanghai circuit, sending a strong message to rivals that he remains the man to beat.

Hodgson Backing for Struggling Torres

West Bromwich manager boss Roy Hodgson has said that Spanish striker Fernando Torres will eventually start scoring goals for Chelsea despite his poor start at the Club.

Torres was at Liverpool with Hodgson as coach, before transferring to Stamford Bridge in January after which Hodgson was sacked and eventually ended up at West Brom.

Toyota to Operate All Plants in May at Half Volume

Japan's Toyota Motor Co. said Friday it would operate all its domestic plants at half normal volume from May 10 to June 3, citing problems with parts supply following the quake and tsunami disaster.

"As (Toyota) continues to address its production situation in Japan following the disaster, it has decided that vehicle production from May 10 to June 3 will proceed at approximately 50 percent of normal," the company said.
