Lebanon's official National News Agency said an Israeli strike targeted a car on a highway leading to the capital Beirut, as Israel and Hezbollah fight a month-old war.

"An enemy drone targeted a car on the Kahale road," the NNA said, referring to a mountain area on the main highway between Beirut and the eastern Bekaa Valley.

Fraench President Emmanuel Macron said Thursday his country would support Lebanon with 100 million euros, as Paris hosted an aid conference with big financial aims but slim diplomatic prospects.

Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea on Wednesday called on the government to “declare its commitement to U.N. resolutions, especially 1559, to avoid a worse situation,” while noting that some of U.S. envoy Amos Hochstein’s proposals “encroach on Lebanese sovereignty.”

Free Patriotic Movement chief Jebran Bassil on Tuesday noted that the FPM is not currently in an alliance with Hezbollah, adding that the ongoing war had started with "a Hezbollah attack on Israel."

More than 1,550 people have been killed in bombardment by Israel since it intensified its air campaign on Lebanon last month.

Lebanon's health ministry reported 63 killed in "Israeli enemy strikes on Lebanon" Monday, raising the death toll from an Israeli strike near a south Beirut hospital to 18. The real toll is likely to be higher due to data gaps.

A hospital director in Lebanon has denied accusations by the Israeli army that Hezbollah is storing money and gold under the hospital.

Fadi Alameh, a member of parliament who is also the director of Sahel General Hospital, denied there are tunnels under the hospital and said that the medical center south of Beirut is now being evacuated.

U.S. mediator Amos Hochstein said Monday that he held a "very constructive" meeting with Speaker Nabih Berri in Ain el-Tineh and that the U.S. is working with Lebanon and Israel on a "formula that brings an end to this conflict once and for all."

Hochstein added that U.N. resolution 1701 is “no longer enough” and that a new mechanism must be put in place to ensure it is implemented “fairly, accurately, transparently.”

Caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati has stressed that the only solution to the current conflict is “diplomacy.”

With U.S. mediator Amos Hochstein scheduled to arrive in Beirut on Monday amid major escalation in Lebanon, Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri has stressed that this visit is "the last chance before the U.S. elections to reach a solution" in the country.

Israeli airstrikes were targeting Beirut's southern suburbs on Sunday night, after the Israeli army warned that it would target Hezbollah's al-Qard al-Hassan financial institution in Haret Hreik, Shiyyah, Ghobeiri, Choueifat, Tahwitat al-Ghadir and Burj al-Barajneh.

The National News Agency reported 11 strikes on Beirut's southern suburbs, many of them targeting al-Qard al-Hassan. Other strikes hit the association in Lebanon's eastern Bekaa Valley and in the country's south, NNA added.
