French, German FMs meet Syria's de facto leader

France and Germany's top diplomats met Syria's new ruler in Damascus on Friday, in the highest-level visit by major Western powers since the country's new Islamist authorities seized power last month.

Israeli negotiators will head to Qatar for Gaza ceasefire talks

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office says he has authorized a delegation from the Mossad intelligence agency, the Shin Bet internal security agency and the military to continue negotiations in Qatar toward a ceasefire deal in Gaza.

Syria forces launch security sweep in Homs city

Syrian security forces are conducting an operation in Homs city, state media reported on Thursday, with a monitor saying it targeted two districts that are home to the Alawite minority of toppled president Bashar al-Assad.

"The Ministry of Interior, in cooperation with the Military Operations Department, begins a wide-scale combing operation in the neighborhoods of Homs city," state news agency SANA said quoting a security official.
