The Gaza Strip's Islamist rulers Hamas on Wednesday hanged a prisoner who had been convicted of murder, its interior ministry said.

"At 4:30 pm (1430 GMT) on October 2, the death penalty was carried out against Hani Mohammed Abu Aliyan from Khan Yunis for his crime of killing Hazem Hassan Barham," the ministry said in a statement.

A Tunisian rights group on Wednesday accused the police of harassing the tiny Jewish community on the southern island of Djerba, saying it had come under a string of attacks.

"Tunisian Jews feel in danger, they are really afraid," Yamina Thabet, the president of the Tunisian Association Supporting Minorities, told a news conference after visiting Djerba.

A 38-year-old Chilean woman has been arrested in Syria on terror charges, Chile's top diplomat said Wednesday.

"The accusations against her are serious and complex, so this is going to take a lot of time," Foreign Minister Alfredo Moreno told CNN Chile from Thailand.

The U.N. Security Council on Wednesday called on the Syrian government to give "unhindered" access to hundreds of thousands of civilians trapped in the country's conflict.

Yemen's reconciliation talks, which have stumbled over the future form of the state, could be delayed for up to three months, the foreign minister said in Al-Hayat newspaper on Wednesday.

The national dialogue, which was due to end on September 18, could be delayed by "one, two or three months, but not more," the pan-Arab daily quoted Abubaker al-Qirbi as saying.

Al-Qaida gunmen shot dead four Yemeni soldiers on Wednesday when they attacked a checkpoint in the southeastern province of Hadramawt, a military officer said.

Several other soldiers wounded in the attack, in the area of Mayfa, the officer said.

Bulgaria sacked the head of its refugee agency for mismanagement on Wednesday, as the EU's poorest country continued to struggle with an ever-growing number of refugees fleeing Syria's civil war.

"Nikola Kazakov was dismissed for inadequate organization of the process for granting refugee status, which created conditions for overcrowding at the accommodation facilities," Interior Minister Tsvetlin Yovchev said.

Tunisia's main trade union said Wednesday that the government had notified it of "serious threats" to its leaders aimed at undermining its efforts to broker an end to a lingering political crisis.

"The union's management has been informed of the existence of serious threats targeting its leaders... with the information coming from the relevant departments of the interior ministry," the UGTT said on its Facebook page.
