Saudi-Led Strikes Hit Yemen Rebels Despite Truce

Saudi-led coalition warplanes bombarded Yemeni rebels Sunday, witnesses said, in a new blow to a U.N.-proposed truce in the impoverished country where millions are threatened with famine.

Air strikes hit the Shiite Huthi stronghold of Saada in Yemen's north, as well as other rebel positions south of the capital Sanaa and in the southern province of Lahj, residents said.

Israel Frees Palestinian after 56-day Hunger Strike

Israel on Sunday released a Palestinian prisoner who staged a 56-day hunger strike which brought him near death in a protest against the controversial procedure allowing detainees to be held indefinitely without charge.

Khader Adnan was greeted to a hero's welcome in his village near Jenin, in the northern West Bank, that included fireworks, songs and flags for Islamic Jihad, the militant movement to which Israel says he belongs.

Tunisia Says 127 Arrests since Jihadist Beach Massacre

Tunisian authorities have arrested 127 suspected "terrorists" since last month's massacre of tourists at a beach resort, the minister heading the crisis group on the incident said Saturday.

"Since the attack, the security forces have carried out more than 700 operations resulting in the arrests of 127 suspected members of terrorist gangs," Kamel Jendoubi said.

Huge Regime Bombs Kill 28 in IS-Held Syria Town

Syria's regime killed at least 28 people, mostly civilians, on Saturday when its warplanes dropped massive makeshift bombs on a town held by the Islamic State group, a monitor said.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said the bombs used in the attacks on Al-Bab, in the northern province of Aleppo, were three times more destructive than so-called barrel bombs, which have already drawn widespread international condemnation.

Drone Strikes Kill 10 Qaida Suspects in Yemen

Two missile strikes by unmanned American drones in southeastern Yemen have killed 10 suspected members of Al-Qaida, including three local chiefs, an official said Saturday.

The raids targeted a vehicle and a container loaded with weapons late Friday at the port of Mukalla, the provincial capital of Hadramawt, the local official said.

Deadly IS Car Bomb Hits Italian Consulate in Egypt

The Islamic State group said it was behind a deadly car bomb attack on Italy's consulate in the Egyptian capital Saturday, and warned Muslims to stay away from such places.

Kidnapped Franciscan Priest Released in Syria

A Franciscan priest serving in northern Syria has been released after almost a week in the hands of allegedly jihadist kidnappers, his church announced on Friday.

The Franciscan Custody of the Holy Land, with which he is affiliated, said on its website that Father Dhiya Aziz, a parish priest at Yacoubieh, in the northwestern province of Idlib, was apparently "treated well" during his ordeal.
