Lebanon's foreign ministry has said it would send an investigation team to Paris following reports that Beirut's ambassador to France, Rami Adwan, has been accused of rape and intentional violence.

A son of Libya's late leader Moammar Gadhafi, who has been held in Lebanon for more than seven years, began a hunger strike Saturday to protest his detention without trial, his lawyer said.

Hannibal Gadhafi has been held in Lebanon since 2015 after he was kidnapped from neighboring Syria where he had been living as a political refugee. He was abducted by Lebanese militants demanding information about the fate of prominent Lebanese Shiite cleric Imam Moussa al-Sadr who went missing in Libya 45 years ago.

Marada leader Suleiman Franjieh could garner 45 votes, while former minister Jihad Azour could garner 68, if Speaker Nabih Berri calls for a session, LBCI said in a detailed report.

According to the record, 31 MPs from the Shiite Duo blocs would vote for Franjieh, in addition to some Sunni and Alawite MPs, four MPs from Franjieh's bloc and 1 MP from the FPM-allied Tashnag.
