The Phalange Party politburo praised on Monday the Lebanese who participated in the March 13 rally, noting that the renewal of the Cedar Revolution “is a message to all concerned sides and the March 14 leadership of the need to return to the essence of its cause and end concessions no matter how great the pressures.”

The party said in a statement after its weekly meeting that the people’s renewed commitment to the revolution should be met with the same commitment by the March 14 camp leaders to fulfill pledges.

Progressive Socialist Party leader MP Walid Jumblat on Monday noted that "forming the new cabinet is the best way to confront social and economic challenges" in the country.

After talks with a high-ranking Hizbullah delegation at his residence in the Beirut neighborhood of Clemenceau, Jumblat added: "I'm surprised that some are speaking of impossibilities as the Shebaa Farms are still occupied (by Israel), as well as the Kfarshouba Hills and the Ghajar village."

Lebanon filed a complaint on Monday to the United Nations Security Council over an Israeli violation of its regional waters on February 2, 2011.

The Foreign Ministry said in a statement that on February 2, an Israeli warship briefly entered Lebanon's regional waters at al-Naqoura before returning to the Palestinian regional waters where it opened machine gun fire towards the Lebanese waters.

Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea thanked on Monday all those who participated in the March 13 rally, calling on President Michel Suleiman and Prime Minister-designate Najib Miqati to take into consideration the views of more than half of the Lebanese who participated in the demonstration.

He criticized during a press conference after meeting with Deputy Speaker Farid Makari and MP Farid Habib “attempts by the other camp to belittle yesterday’s events.”

The March 14 General Secretariat voiced on Monday its appreciation and gratitude for the Lebanese people “who renewed their revolution aimed at achieving sovereignty, freedom, independence, and justice.”

It said in a statement: “Your commitment to these goals and your peaceful civil action has become the example adopted by Arab people in their revolts.”

The websites of al-Mustaqbal Movement Forum, Caretaker Premier Saad Hariri and the Hariri Foundation have been hit by a cyber attack, pan-Arab daily al-Hayat reported Monday.

The newspaper said that a message along with the photo of a machine gun appeared on the homepages of the sites. The message said: “We won’t give up arms … This is our response to their attack on the resistance.”

Hizbullah parliamentary sources described Caretaker Premier Saad Hariri’s speech at Sunday’s rally as “childish” and said the March 14 leader addressed the crowds as if he was speaking to Tarik Jdideh’s residents.

“Hariri wasn’t at all successful in his speech which didn’t suit his position as a statesman,” the sources told pan-Arab daily Asharq al-Awsat in remarks published Monday.

Walid Jumblat’s Progressive Socialist Party said that Sunday’s rally at the Martyrs Square “cannot be taken” lightly and should be an occasion to bridge the gap with half of the Lebanese people.

The PSP made the comment on its website.

Speaker Nabih Berri didn’t comment on the rally held by the March 14 forces at Beirut’s Martyrs Square on Sunday, except for saying “the scenes were enough, no comment.”

In remarks to An Nahar newspaper on Monday, Berri also called for “speeding up the formation of the government because it is the response that all the Lebanese are awaiting for.”

Prime Minister-designate Najib Miqati on Sunday described as "strife-inciting" some of the statements made earlier in the day at the rally organized by the March 14 camp to commemorate the 6th anniversary of the Cedar Revolution.

Asked by his visitors for his feedback concerning the rally, Miqati said: "May God have mercy upon Martyr (premier) Rafik Hariri's soul, because he would have rejected some of the strife-inciting remarks that were made near his tomb" in downtown Beirut.
