Indonesia Arrests Foreigners in 'Massive' Drug Bust

Indonesian authorities said Wednesday a major Hong Kong drug lord had been arrested and more than 860 kilograms (1,900 pounds) of crystal methamphetamine seized, following a three-year investigation into a global syndicate.

Three other Hong Kong residents, as well as a Malaysian and four Indonesians, were also detained in the "massive" bust on Monday, and all could face the death penalty, National Narcotics Agency spokesman Sumirat Dwiyanto told Agence France Presse.

Four Killed in Violence in Indonesia's Papua

At least four teenagers were shot dead in eastern Indonesia's restive Papua province in clashes with security forces, authorities said Tuesday, although rights campaigners accused police of opening fire on protesters.

Monday's incident was the latest flare-up in violence in the eastern region, where poorly armed fighters have been waging a low-level insurgency against Jakarta for decades on behalf the mostly ethnic Melanesian population.
