Hizbullah has reportedly detained two of its high-ranking officials and a member of a municipality in the eastern Bekaa valley for cooperating with Israel.

According to An Nahar newspaper published on Wednesday, the party’s security apparatus was able to expose the three members five days ago.

Israel's Iron Dome System Downs Gaza Rocket

Palestinian militants in the Gaza Strip fired a rocket toward the southern Israeli city of Ashkelon on Tuesday evening but it was intercepted by the Iron Dome air defense system, the military told Agence France Presse.

On Friday two rockets slammed into open ground in Israel's south, without causing casualties or damage.

EU Refuses Israel's Request to Blacklist Hizbullah

The European Union turned down a request Tuesday by Israeli Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman to blacklist Hizbullah as a “terror group” after last week's deadly bombing in Bulgaria.

"There is no consensus for putting Hizbullah on the list of terrorist organizations," said Cypriot Foreign Minister Erato Kozakou-Marcoullis, whose country currently holds the rotating EU presidency.

Israel Says Syria 'in Full Control of Chemical Weapons'

Syria's stockpile of chemical weapons is "under the full control" of the regime of President Bashar Assad, a top Israeli defense official said on Tuesday.

"At the moment, the Syrian regime is fighting for its very existence, but all of its chemical weapons and its weapons of mass destruction are under full control of the regime," Amos Gilad said in an interview on public radio.

Reports: Bulgaria Bomber Had Female Companion

The suicide bomber in last week's deadly attack on Israeli tourists in Bulgaria entered from neighboring Romania, spoke decent Russian and had a female companion, local media reported on Monday.

Citing investigators probing last Wednesday's bombing of a bus at Burgas airport that killed five Israeli tourists and the driver, television channel bTV said that the attacker was in the city of Varna for at least a day before the bombing.

Shots Fired at Israeli Soldiers from Egypt's Sinai

Assailants on the Egyptian side of the border with Israel opened fire at a bus carrying Israeli soldiers on Sunday, causing no casualties but damaging the vehicle, an Israeli military spokeswoman said.

"Fire was opened at an Israeli army bus carrying soldiers," she told Agence France Presse. "Nobody was injured but damage was caused to the bus."

Israel Again Seeks Delay to Evacuate Migron Outpost

Israel on Sunday again asked the Supreme Court for more time to evacuate the Migron settlement outpost, which the same court has ordered razed by August 1.

The request for a one-month extension to August 30, a copy of which was seen by Agence France Presse, was backed by the regional military commander who said the need to maintain order in the West Bank during the holy Muslim fasting month of Ramadan justified the delay.
