Israel PM Regrets Egypt Attack Deaths

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday expressed regret over the deaths of 16 Egyptian guards in an attack on Sunday by gunmen on the border with Israel, his office said in a statement.

It said that he was speaking during a visit with Defense Minister Ehud Barak to the site where five attackers crashed across the frontier in an armored vehicle into the Jewish state, where they were killed by Israeli forces.

Reports: Israel Boosts Missile Interceptor System

Israel Army Shoots Syrian 'with Cutters' on Golan Fence

Israeli soldiers shot and wounded a Syrian man trying to breach a frontier fence in the southern Golan with a pair of wire cutters on Saturday, a military spokeswoman said.

Lieutenant Colonel Avital Leibovich said Israeli forces "identified a civilian from Syria, a man approaching the border fence. The man was holding hydraulic cutters and tried to cut the fence.

Suleiman Says People, Army, Resistance Equation Requires Explanation

President Michel Suleiman stressed on Saturday that the tripartite formula of the people, army and the resistance requires some clarification, noting that the goal behind the defense strategy is to “confronting Israeli aggression against Lebanese territories.”

Few Leads in Bulgaria Two Weeks after Deadly Bus Bomb

More than two weeks since a deadly bombing on a bus carrying Israeli tourists in Bulgaria, investigators have still not identified the young perpetrator or his suspected accomplices.

Interpol Requests Help in Identifying Bulgaria Bomb Suspect

Interpol has distributed a computer-generated image of the suspected suicide bomber who killed six people in an attack in Bulgaria last month.

The global policing body said Thursday it had issued a Black Notice -- used to seek information on unidentified corpses -- to its 190 member countries urging them to make the image public in the hopes of identifying the suspect.

Report: Experts Predict 200 Israeli Fatalities in War with Hizbullah, Iran

The Israeli Defense Ministry estimated that if the country engaged in a war with Hizbullah and Iran some 200 Israeli civilians would die.

According to Israeli newspaper Haaretz, the number of fatalities could rise to 300 if Syria joins the war as well.
