A man who had crossed into Israel was handed over to the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon on Monday, the National News Agency reported.

According to the NNA, Ali Talal al-Daoud crossed into Israel on Sunday night, where he was questioned by the Israeli forces.

Israel carried out four air raids against the Gaza Strip early Monday, wounding a Palestinian child, witnesses and Palestinian medics said.

The aircraft also targeted a police post in the El Tufah neighborhood east of Gaza City and carried out two raids in the north of the territory, witnesses said.

German Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle said on Sunday that a nuclear-armed Iran was "not an option", as he called on Tehran for "substantial negotiations" over its controversial atomic program.

"We share the Israeli concerns about Iran's nuclear program," Westerwelle said at the beginning of a meeting with Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak in Jerusalem.

The Palestinian Authority has formally asked Israel for talks on changing the Paris Protocol, a key agreement governing economic ties between the two, a minister told Agence France Presse on Sunday.

"I made a request to the Israeli government through the defense ministry... that the Palestinian Authority officially requests the reopening of the Paris Protocol which is not compatible with the current economic situation," said civil affairs minister Hussein al-Sheikh.

Iranian authorities on Sunday advanced different arguments as to why they believed Canada abruptly cut diplomatic ties, pointing the finger at Israeli influence or Tehran's hosting of a recent summit rather than Ottawa's stated reasons.

"Canada's action is in line with the interests of the Zionist regime (Israel) as it seeks to boost of its relations with the (Israeli) regime," Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi told a closed-door session of parliament, according to the Mehr news agency.

A rocket fired from Gaza crashed into a house in southern Israel on Sunday, causing heavy damage but not casualties, as two more landed near the city of Beersheva, an Israel police spokesman said.

Spokesman Micky Rosenfeld said one rocket hit a house in Netivot and caused damage to a second, while two others landed near Beersheva, a city of 194,000 people.

Israeli police on Saturday arrested three Jewish teenagers suspected of attacking a Palestinian in a Jewish neighborhood in the Holy City, a police spokeswoman said.

"Three Jewish teenagers suspected of having attacked a Palestinian were arrested," said Luba Samri.

Egypt's armed forces have killed 32 "criminal elements" in an ongoing operation against Islamists in the lawless Sinai peninsula, a military spokesman said on Saturday.

Colonel Ahmed Mohammed Ali told reporters that 38 people including "non-Egyptians" had been arrested during "Operation Sinai," which was launched on August 7, days after gunmen killed 16 soldiers at a border post there.

Head of the Lebanese Forces Samir Geagea noted on Friday that the greatest progress in the Palestinian cause could have been achieved during the Arab Spring.

He said during a workshop on "Lebanon's role in the renaissance of the new Arab world": “The other camp is using the Palestinian cause to suit their interests.”

Iran hit out at Canada's decision to break off diplomatic ties, with foreign ministry spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast accusing the Canadian government of being "under the influence of the Zionist regime."

Canada closed its Tehran embassy on Friday and ordered Iranian diplomats be expelled, in a severance of ties in which it accused the Islamic Republic of being the biggest threat to world peace.
