U.N. Weighs Sanctions as DR Congo Waits Rebel Pullout from Goma
Congolese rebels have made no major moves to withdraw from the key city of Goma, the United Nations has said, issuing a new call for foreign countries to stop meddling in the volatile region.
The U.N. Security Council passed a French-drafted resolution Wednesday saying it would consider sanctions against more M23 rebel leaders and "those providing external support,” though it did not name any country.

Heavy Fighting Breaks out in Eastern DR Congo
Government troops and unidentified rebel forces clashed in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo Sunday, military officials said.
Heavy weapons fire could be heard after 9:00 pm (1900 GMT) at Sake in North Kivu region, about 30 kilometers (20 miles) west of the city of Goma, officials and residents said.
