Iran's ambassador, Ghazanfar Roknabadi, said Friday that he delivered a letter to Lebanese authorities protesting a recent statement made by Interior Minister Nuhad al-Mashnouq against Tehran.

The diplomat told reporters after meeting Premier Tammam Salam at the Grand Serail that the official letter of protest was made over al-Mashnouq's remarks against Tehran's regime at the meeting of Arab Interior Ministers in Morocco.

Phalange Party leader Amin Gemayel, who is currently on a trip to the U.S. capital Washington, is expected to visit the Islamic Republic of Iran, al-Liwaa newspaper reported on Thursday.

According to the report, the invitation was delivered to Gemayel by Iran's ambassador to Lebanon Ghazanfar Roknabadi.

President Michel Suleiman offered on Thursday his condolences at the Iranian embassy over the victims of the twin suicide bombings that targeted the mission a few days earlier.

A myriad of officials, politicians and diplomats have been converging on the mission in the past two days.

Prime Minister Najib Miqati held talks on Tuesday with Iranian Ambassador to Lebanon Ghazanfar Roknabadi on the latest developments at the regional and international levels, in addition to bilateral agreements signed between Lebanon and Iran.

After the meeting at the Grand Serail, Abadi said: “The PM and I discussed the developments at the regional and international levels, mainly focusing on bilateral relations between the two countries.”

The March 14 General Secretariat condemned on Wednesday the government’s policy of “distancing itself” from the Syrian developments.

It said in a statement after its weekly meeting: “It should instead work on fortifying Lebanon against the repercussions of the crisis.”

Maronite Patriarch Beshara al-Rahi and Iranian Ambassador Ghazanfar Roknabadi discussed the preparations for the inter-religious dialogue that is scheduled to be held next month.

My “visit was aimed at discussing the Christian-Islamic dialogue conference that will be held on January 17, 2012 with the participation of delegations from the different countries in the Middle East and North Africa,” Roknabadi said after meeting al-Rahi in Bkirki.

Hizbullah Secretary-General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah met Thursday with Mohammad Reza Bahonar, Deputy Speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly of Iran (parliament), who was accompanied by a parliamentary delegation, Hizbullah’s press office said.

The meeting, which was also attended by Iranian Ambassador to Lebanon Ghazanfar Roknabadi, tackled the latest developments in Lebanon and the region and the means of possible cooperation between Lebanon and Iran, the press office added.

Progressive Socialist Party leader MP Walid Jumblat discussed on Thursday the latest regional and international developments with Iranian Ambassador to Lebanon Ghazanfar Roknabadi, reported the National News Agency.

The meeting was held in the presence of Transportation and Public Works Minister Ghazi al-Aridi.

Iran's ambassador to Lebanon Ghazanfar Rokn Abadi announced that a breakthrough in the Lebanon crisis is likely to be reached soon, stressing that there is no need to fear.

"Efforts to reach a compromise deal will achieve a breakthrough," he said in remarks published Friday by AL-Liwaa newspaper, adding that Prime Minister Hariri Saad Hariri's Tehran visit was "very successful" at all levels -- political, economic and social development.
