'Too soon to Celebrate' Iran Nuclear Deal, Say Germany, France

EU heavyweights Germany and France on Friday cautiously welcomed the framework nuclear agreement struck with Iran but Berlin's chief diplomat warned there was "no guarantee" it would ultimately succeed.

"It's good, but at the same time it's too early to celebrate. We laid the corner stone yesterday," German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier said following talks with his French and Polish counterparts in Wroclaw, Poland.

Three Released over Paris Attacks

Three men arrested in connection with the terror attacks in Paris in January have been released without charge, officials said Friday.

The three, aged 22, 25 and 29, from Fleury, south of Paris, allegedly knew some of the seven people already accused of helping Amedy Coulibaly, who killed four people in a kosher supermarket on January 9, two days after shooting a policewoman close to a Jewish school on the outskirts of the city.

After 10 grim days for the Germanwings search team, Alice Coldefy -- the only woman working at the crash site -- found the elusive black box on her first day on the job.

"Everyone was happy. It was a relief... a relief for all the people that had been working there for a week-and-a-half without a break," the 32-year-old told AFP.

Forecast: French Economy to Pick up but Jobless at Record Highs

France's economy, the second-largest in the eurozone, will perk up slightly in the first half of the year but unemployment is expected to stay at record highs, according to forecasts.

In estimates released late Thursday, the INSEE national statistics office said the economy would grow by 0.4 percent in the first quarter of the year and by 0.3 percent in the second.

A French court on Thursday summoned former Guantanamo prison chief Geoffrey Miller over accusations of torture by two ex-detainees, in a move their lawyer said would open the door to further prosecutions.

Nizar Sassi and Mourad Benchellali, both French citizens, were arrested by U.S. forces in Afghanistan before being transferred to the notorious prison set up in Guantanamo Bay to hold terror suspects after the 9/11 attacks.

France to Fine those Encouraging Anorexia

Inciting people to extreme thinness could be punishable by a year in prison and a fine of 10,000 euros ($11,000) in France after MPs voted Thursday to take aim at "pro-anorexia" websites.

Deputies voted through an amendment to a law on public health that would punish anyone "provoking people to excessive thinness by encouraging prolonged dietary restrictions that could expose them to a danger of death or directly impair their health."

Malian Ex-Leader Questioned in Sarkozy Libya Funding Probe

Exiled former Malian leader Amadou Toumani Toure has given evidence in a probe into alleged Libyan funding for Nicolas Sarkozy's 2007 French presidential election campaign, an aide said Tuesday.

Toure, who has been in the Senegalese capital Dakar since being overthrown in a March 2012 coup, was summoned by Senegalese detectives following a formal request from France, the aide said.
