Green Day, Sting, Withers among Rock Hall Nominees

The punk trio Green Day, the short-lived British band The Smiths, "Lean on Me" singer Bill Withers and Sting are among the first-time nominees for enshrinement in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Six of the 15 nominees for the hall's Class of 2015 announced Thursday are on the ballot for the first time. More than 700 artists and other members of the music community will vote on the inductees, with the results announced in December.

Mrs Clooney to Fight for Return of Greek Marbles from Britain

Amal Alamuddin, the lawyer newly wedded to Hollywood star George Clooney, will be in Greece this month to advise on the return of the Parthenon Marbles from Britain, her employers said on Thursday. 

The marbles, taken by diplomat Lord Elgin in 1803 and currently held in the British Museum, have been a bone of contention between the UK and Greek governments for decades.
