Miqati on Bulgaria's Accusation against Hizbullah: We Will Cooperate with it in the Investigation

Prime Minister Najib Miqati renewed on Tuesday Lebanon's condemnation of the bus attack that targeted a number of Israeli tourists in Bulgaria in 2012, in light of the country's accusation against Hizbullah of being involved in the incident.

He said in a statement: “We condemn any assault against any Arab or foreign country and we will cooperate with Bulgaria in the investigation into the attack.”

Report: Rising Expectations of Hizbullah Involvement in Bulgaria Suicide Attack

Expectations are rising that Bulgarian officials will confirm on Tuesday a link between Hizbullah and a suicide attack in Bulgaria that left five Israeli tourists dead in July last year, the New York Times reported.

Dutch Food Watchdog Issues Warning on Poisonous Tea

The Dutch food and consumer watchdog issued a warning Thursday about a batch of herbal tea imported from Bulgaria which may have been contaminated by a highly toxic nightshade plant.

The tea, supplied by Dutch herbal tea supplier Jacob Hooy, "has probably been contaminated by deadly nightshade, a plant that's dangerous to peoples' health," the NVWA said in a statement.

Bulgarian Turk Leader Foils Gas Pistol Attack

Bulgaria's veteran Turkish minority party leader Ahmed Dogan resigned as expected Saturday, but not before he foiled a dramatic attack by a man armed with a gas pistol at his party's national conference in Sofia.

Dogan was addressing delegates of his Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF) party when a tall man in black leapt onto the stage, rushed to his podium and pointed the non-lethal weapon at his head, video footage showed.

Bulgaria Issues Arrest Warrant in Deadly Israeli Tourist Bus Bombing

Sofia has identified and issued an arrest warrant for one of several foreigners believed to have assisted a man who killed six people plus himself in a bomb attack on Israeli tourists in Bulgaria in July, a senior investigator was quoted as saying Thursday.

"The investigation has evidence for the implication of three persons. The identity of one of them has already been established," Stanelia Karadzhova, head of the regional investigation unit in Burgas where the bombing took place, told the 24 Hours newspaper in an interview.

Interpol to Make New Push for Bulgaria Bus Bomber

Interpol said Friday it will make a new push to help Bulgaria identify the bomber who killed six people, including five Israeli tourists, at Burgas airport in July.

"Interpol plans on re-issuing the image (of the suspect), reminding people, asking people, hoping that maybe we will catch someone who is watching TV or on the Internet, who recognizes the person and can help give leads to identifying him and locating him," said the chief of the global policing body, Ronald Noble.

Contraband Cigarettes Smuggled in Coffins in Bulgaria

Smugglers transported millions of contraband cigarettes around Bulgaria in coffins and even hired hearses to throw investigators off the scent, the country's customs chief said on Tuesday.

Head of the Bulgarian customs agency Vanyo Tanov told state BNT television the smugglers also disguised some vehicles as ambulances.
