Rice: U.S. Wants 'Consequences' for North Korea Rocket Launch
إقرأ هذا الخبر بالعربيةThe United States on Wednesday demanded "consequences" for North Korea's rocket launch and said it would seek international action in coming days.
U.S. ambassador to the United Nations Susan Rice said the North's launch "shows that despite the Security Council's clear requirements, North Korea is determined to pursue its ballistic missile program without regard for it international obligations.
"Therefore members of the council must now work in a concerted fashion to send North Korea a clear message that its violations of U.N. Security Council resolutions have consequences," Rice told reporters after council talks on the rocket launch.
"In the days ahead the United States will work with partners on the Security Council as well as our partners in the six-party talks and other countries in the international community to pursue appropriate action," she added.
Rice said North Korean actions "more than call into question" its commitment to return to six-country talks on its nuclear arsenal.
