Geagea Says Govt. Left Army Alone in Face of Security Incidents

إقرأ هذا الخبر بالعربية W460

Lebanese Forces Leader Samir Geagea said Wednesday that the “government is leaving the army without a policy or plan to confront security events,” adding that Energy Minister Jebran Bassil “should resign if he cannot address the electricity issue.”

At a press conference held in Maarab, Geagea said that “the electricity shortage is unacceptable and Lebanon did not witness such a blackout in all areas, even during war.”

He added: “We are not blaming the current minister, but all the previous energy ministers were part of March 8 forces.”

“Why wouldn’t Jebran Bassil resign if he is unable to make changes? Isn’t he the energy minister? If he cannot resolve the issue he should leave his post.”

The LF leader stated that “Bassil proved his inability to address the electricity issue, because four years passed and he did not change anything regarding this matter.”

Asked about the governmental performance, Geagea said that “the best decision the government would take is its resignation,” pointing out that the frequent security incidents prompted other countries to lose faith in Lebanon.

He pointed out that “the national dialogue is a waste of time and takes attention away from main problems and the economic situation in Lebanon is heading from bad to worse.”

“Is it possible that the state still has no budget? This is irresponsible … Tourism in Lebanon is deteriorating and Arabs do not trust our country anymore,” he added.

Geagea said that the government leaves the army to confront security incidents “without a policy or a plan, and all the ministers do is voicing their poetic support to the army.”

“Is it reasonable to leave the army alone in solving the Palestinian camps’ issues? Why didn’t any of the Lebanese leaders call Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas?” he said, describing the cabinet as “deaf and absent.”

Geagea addressed the government saying: “You should have mercy and resign, or this country will turn into a land without authority.”

??? we had no electricity during the war..sometimes went for months on end in absolute blackout. He, and other warlords, do not recall that because they had power 24/24. Some 'lucky' neighborhoods were lit 24/24 during the civil war because some THUG war lord was living in the area, while the rest of us were shoved into the dark ages by those same war lords. Geag Gea and others from that era should be reminded of that.

There are a lot of points which are true, I'm not an M14er neither an M8er person, didn't even approve previous governments, but times were much better before. Now, where is our good friend FT who keeps on praising the FPM ministers, oh yes, sorry, everything is being blocked by M14, I wonder who is in power in this country at the moment?

Dr Geagea is a patriotic, fearless and loyal leader. He has proven to be steadfast,The Great Dr Is a symbol of strength in a country were leadership is lacking.Regardless how great or effective a leader is there will always be individuals who would want to be critical, however these individuals and there peers should be grateful they are permitted to express there distorted views and be thankful to people like Geagea for creating that environs.Dr Geagea I thank you and all the brave individuals for fighting to give us what we have today, that is the ability to express one's opinion regardless of it's contents.

Any minister complaining of not being able to do his job, should excuse himself and resign from his post. But this is Lebanon, most of them are in the government for the money and prestige, not to be public servants.

Thumb lebneneh 20 June 2012, 18:47

I don't give a crap about geagea but your comments are irrelevant. His comments make much more sense then yours. It would be nice if we can stop just trying to put each other down and actually have proper and constructive discussions!

Thumb lebnanfirst 20 June 2012, 18:58

Was never a Geagea fan at the time but truth be told it appears that Geagea spent his time in prison educating himself and retrospecting whereas Aoun spent the time outside Lebanon posturing and drinking cognac and smoking cigars (maybe also something else as well, who knows the way Aoun is acting).
These days when Geagea speaks he makes sense whereas Aoun seems way out there in left field and even beyond.

FT, M8 was present in all previous governments so stop your miserable nagging and blaming others...Hakim is 100% correct. I think you have a personal vendetta against anyone that disagrees with you. A typical "don't blame me" M8r...your master is a loud mouth crying little general who lost the presidential seat FOREVER so get on with it and stop your whining and nagging...ouf.

Thumb bigsami 20 June 2012, 20:05

I second that Allouch....the funny thing is that FT and aliases are so pathetic sticking around this forum getting abused on a daily basis that it's actually sad to see him hang around. Kind of like a loner and the only way he would get attention (despite the abuse)is to stick around. LOL!

FT, so if the FPM’s own allies are against you, M14 against you, the party elders against you and the whole wide world against you...Doesn't that make you wonder WHY?!!! (it's called a clue, look into it)... ya habibi, the reason is that PFM policies and alliances are a disaster....maybe it's time to re-evaluate before it’s too late (that rhymes ).

Thumb bigsami 20 June 2012, 21:14

flame
truth is a government must have an adjenda to which it should govern. Regardless of what the coalition is made up of prior to it's formation/election it should present to the people it's policy. This government fails this test miserably. There is no clear and defined adjenda here with so many conflicting interests this government by its own doing has rendered it self in effective. Another point, they were not voted in that took control by force, therefore are liable to full scrutiny over everything and the request to stand down if they cannot deliver. Lastly, an opposition is exactly this an opposing party hold often diferent views ideals, policies etc expected to hold the governement to task on their policies.. so to cry out that we are being hindered is very childish as they know the rules and have played this game in the past.

what about who fired the late georges frem ya hakim doesn t they deserve to go to court and judged for our misery in electricity
and the ones who spent 60 billion for nothing they do not have to be judged for our financial misery

Dr gaga, the magnificent energy minister is in Brazil busy picking coffee beans with Juan Valdez for Ne3mtallah Abi Nasr. Juan Valdez was very impressed by komisiyangeh Gebran Bassil and he claimed the little guy was a natural and in fact is almost as intelligent as his old donkey.

I would accept a criticism by someone with a track record of successes and achievements. But from Samir Geagea? Hell, never. It's like taking lessons on how to be a statesman from someone like Saad Hariri. What a lame joke these two are.

Your bosses the future movement were in power from 2005-2011 and no budget was passed but we did disover 11 billion missing? You were in jail for 11 years where did you get your money to buy a palace in the cedars, build a fortress in maarab and have a private jet?

You have no right to talk about the honorable Army, no one attacjed the Army like you did. You are the only person in history to bomb Baabda the presidential palace of the Lebanese Republic.

The ISF and its illegal Information Branch has been getting all the funding and weapons and not the army because of the future movement government headed by your bosses.

You are a common street hood and thug and the only reason you are alive is because the CIA and Saudi need you to keep destroying Lebanon.

YOU FILTHY CHILD KILLING MURDERER!

Flame the scary truth for you and your kind is that geagea is gaining credibility each day whereas mishoo and co are quickly loosing theirs. I am seeing not only in forums but also in the public arena the younger generation starting to think for themselves and starting to question their historical views on politics as we can see in this page a few people not previously geagea supporters starting to realise that what he is saying actually makes sense and is a preffered mindset than the kill or be killed attitude of mishoo, hussouny and co.. I say this to you again FT, you may hate geagea for past errors of judgement, but to follow aoun and co inspite leads lebanon down a very dangerous road.
