Gulf States to Expel Syrian Envoys, Recall Their Own

The six Gulf Cooperation Council states have decided to expel Syria's envoys and withdraw their own from Damascus over the "mass slaughter" of civilians in Syria, a joint statement said.

"Member states have decided to withdraw their ambassadors from Syria and ask at the same time for all the ambassadors of the Syrian regime to leave immediately," a GCC statement said.

It said that there was "no point in them staying after the Syrian regime rejected all attempts and aborted all honest Arab efforts to solve this crisis and end the bloodshed."

The statement condemned "mass slaughter against the unarmed Syrian people" during the nearly 11-month crackdown by President Bashar Al-Assad's regime.

GCC states "follow with sorrow and anger, the increase in killing and violence in Syria, which has not spared children, old people or women with heinous acts that at best can be described as mass slaughter," the statement said.

The GCC urged other Arab states to use an Arab League meeting next week to adopt "all decisive measures in response to this dangerous escalation against the Syrian people."

The Gulf states' announcement came after France, Italy, and Spain said on Tuesday that they were following Britain and Belgium in bringing back their envoys for consultations. The United States has closed its Damascus embassy entirely.

It's about time. The whole world should follow...of course the Lebanese government takes order from Assad so the cowards won't do a thing.

Are they more cowards than Rafic Syria who fleeced the coffers and for 15 years kept lecturing us that the Syrian presence in Lebanon is temporary, legal and necessary? Your brightness is required here, allouchi ya ta7bouchi.

ya fathal Limbo, you seem to live in the past and accuse others without any proof, either put up or shut the hell up.

So the coward Rafic Syria did not collaborate with the Syrian occupation? He did not hand the key of Beirut to Ghazi Loubnan? He did not call the Syrian occupation temporary, legal and necessary? He did not invite his friend Jacques Chirac to lecture the MPs that the Syrian presence in Lebanon will continue until the Middle East problem is resolved? Just go back and read the filthy Al Mustaqbal newspapers of that era. You need proof, huh!

Russia is arming ASSad.....time for the gulf to step up arming the FSA. ASSad is living in some dream land. There will be no more Arab observers. The end game is at hand. Lavrov did what Bahsar wanted in the UN and is giving arms. That is all they can do.

With the ambassadors gone there are so many options.

When the Syrian regime was killing Christian women and children in Lebanon for 30 years, the GCC did not budge, (they were killing infidels). Now, they can’t wait to get rid of the regime!!!

One by one the ambassadors are leaving, Turkey and McCain are talking about arming the rebels. It's only a matter of time till the regime falls. The question is how long will the Syrian people suffer for the greed of Assad and his cronies?

Thumb jabalamel 08 February 2012, 04:37

the filthy zionist media terrorist promotes the idea that syria=cuba and north korea, forgetting that palestinians live even worse in zionist entity than average person in cuba or north korea

Default-user-icon Enough (Guest) 08 February 2012, 07:18

Jabalamel... Have you ever been to Cuba or North Korea, do you know anything about these countries. You are one of the stupidest people on this planet, I am starting to think that you are Nasrallah's speech writer. Maybe that is why Nasrallah sounds like such a nut ;-)
