Al-Mustaqbal MP Nohad al-Mashnouq called on Hizbullah ministers to quit their posts in the cabinet, saying there can’t be Hizbullah members in the government at a time when the party’s militants are wanted for involvement in ex-Premier Rafik Hariri’s murder.
The Hizbullah ministers should quit “until the truth” is found in Hariri’s Feb. 2005 assassination, he said.
During a conference held by al-Mustaqbal movement in Baaloul in the Bekaa valley on Sunday, the lawmaker said “a government can’t achieve justice as long as it has ministers of a party whose members are accused of involvement in Hariri’s killing.”
He dubbed Premier Najib Miqati’s cabinet as a government of “treason” and said its policy statement was “an attack on our political dignity and on Rafik Hariri in his grave.”
Mashnouq also slammed Progressive Socialist Party leader Walid Jumblat for participating in “the political coup” against former Premier Saad Hariri’s cabinet in January.
Miqati is an “essential partner” in the alleged coup, he added.
