Speaker Nabih Berri set on Friday a three-day period for parliamentary sessions to allow MPs to discuss the policy statement and give their vote of confidence to the government.
During the three-consultations starting Tuesday, lawmakers will review the policy statement that was approved by the government during a session at Baabda palace on Thursday.
Premier Najib Miqati’s cabinet was formed on June 13 but the drafting of the policy statement took time over disputes between the centrist forces and the Hizbullah-led alliance.
The bickering mainly lied on the Special Tribunal for Lebanon clause. But members of the government finally agreed on it.
"The government confirms that it will follow the progress of the Special Tribunal for Lebanon, which was set up in principle to see justice served in a manner that is neither politicized nor vengeful, and as long as it does not negatively affect Lebanon's stability and civil peace," read the ambiguously worded statement.
