Hizbullah parliamentary sources said Saturday that Progressive Socialist Party leader Walid Jumblat has blamed Hizbullah for the government deadlock out of his keenness on the quick formation of the new cabinet.
The sources said that they accept his remarks because they know that he has “good intentions.”
Jumblat was quoted as saying on Friday that Hizbullah did not want the government to be formed and was putting Free Patriotic Movement leader Michel Aoun at the forefront.
“This is part of Jumblat’s new policy,” the sources said.
They added that the Druze leader didn’t directly accuse Aoun of hindering the formation of the cabinet out of fears that their relations would tumble.
Jumblat said in a statement later Friday that the objective behind his stance was to “stress that the country should not remain without a cabinet” amid an economic crisis and the disintegration of the public administration.
