Judge Dismisses Decision to Hear Informant Testimony in Samaha Case

First Military Examining Magistrate Judge Riyad Abu Ghida reneged on Monday a decision to hear the testimony of the informant in ex-Minister Michel Samaha's terrorist plot, after police failed to find him.

Abu Ghida had set Monday as the date to hear the testimony of Milad Kfoury, who is allegedly the man behind reporting Samaha to the Internal Security Forces Intelligence Branch.

Kfoury is reportedly out of the country for security reasons.

Samaha was arrested in August and charged with plotting to assassinate Lebanese leaders and of transporting explosives from Syria into Lebanon to carry out attacks in the country's north in an attempt to provoke sectarian strife at the behest of the Syrian regime.

Similar charges were leveled against Syrian security official Ali Mamlouk and a col. identified by his first name as Adnan.

Abu Ghida has set February 4 as the date for questioning them by posting the court order at the entrance of Beirut's military court after considering their places of residence unknown.
