Speaker Nabih Berri has said that the current situation will not crush efforts to form the new government saying no one will “surrender” to the obstacles facing the cabinet formation.
“The efforts are still ongoing and the necessity requires us to reach the desired results,” Berri told An Nahar newspaper on Wednesday.
He noted that the efforts haven’t yet received the required responses.
In answering a question about his insisting stance on holding a parliamentary session, As Safir newspaper quoted him as saying “if the parliament works 50 km/hr during the presence of a cabinet, it has to work 100 km/hr in the presence of a caretaking government.”
The speaker stressed that the parliament has to “compensate for the (government) vacuum.”
