One person was injured on Wednesday when a cement truck fell off the bridge near the Nahr al-Mot highway, north of Beirut, Lebanese Red Cross Operations Director George Kettaneh said.
The driver of the truck was wounded when he lost control of his vehicle and fell on a taxi parked underneath the bridge, he said.
The Red Cross took the man to the nearby Haroun hospital in Zalka, Kettaneh added.
Several media outlets identified the driver as Walid al-Jerdli from the southern city of Sidon.
The accident caused heavy traffic, mainly for drivers heading from Zalka to Nahr al-Mot through the secondary road, the National News Agency said.
The truck is owned by a businessman identified as Jihad al-Arab, it added.
The accident could have caused more casualties had Wednesday not been a holiday on the occasion of the Prophet's Birthday.
