Unknown assailants have opened fire on a Lebanese army barracks in east Lebanon, causing material damage only, media reports said Friday.
The incident took place after midnight when bullets hit the outer wall of Badih al-Hajj barracks of the 6the brigade in Hermel, they said.
The army immediately deployed in the area and carried out patrols to arrest the assailants.
The attack came a day after the military said it arrested two men wanted on arrest warrants during a raid in several Hermel towns.
The communique said the army closed a drug factory, confiscated all of its equipment, and seized a sizable amount of drugs and a number of medium and light weapons.
Several gunmen had opened fire at the army as it was conducting its raids, said the communique.
Army units are still chasing the assailants who fled to the outskirts of Hermel, it added.
