Prime Minister Najib Miqati noted on Tuesday that the political divisions in Lebanon target the country's core values that have helped shape it throughout its history.
He said: “We are all obligated to steer Lebanon away from dangers that do not distinguish between pro- and anti-government factions.”
He made his remarks during a meeting he held at the Grand Serail with a number of representatives of civil society organizations and which was aimed at bolstering cooperation between the public and civil sectors.
The premier added: “The political divisions in Lebanon chip away at its fortitude that has distinguished the country as an example to be followed.”
“We must therefore increase cooperation between the public, private, and civil organizations in order to reach an agreement over a joint development strategy,” Miqati added.
To that end, he revealed that amendments had been introduced to a government plan on economic and social reform.
The plan includes institutional, financial, and development reform and covers some 70 projects, explained Miqati.
