The March 14 alliance is preparing a memorandum to hand over to President Michel Suleiman over Syria’s repeated violations against Lebanon, An Nahar newspaper reported on Friday.
According to the daily, the memo will address the case of ex-Minister Michel Samaha, who was accused along with head of the Syrian National Security Bureau Ali Mamlouk and a Syrian officer identified as Brig. Gen. Adnan of plotting to assassinate political and religious figures in Lebanon and carry out terrorist attacks.
The memorandum will demand the president “to take all the necessary measures” to preserve the country.
The daily noted that al-Mustaqbal parliamentary bloc leader Fouad Saniora will hand Suleiman the memo, which also considers the expulsion of Syrian Ambassador Ali Abdul Karim Ali a “cheap price after the regime was proved to have a hand in the plot” targeting Lebanon.
On Wednesday, the March 14 alliance’s youth movement and activists marched to the Foreign Ministry in Ashrafiyeh to demand the expulsion of the Syrian Ambassador and the termination of the cooperation agreement between Lebanon and Syria.
The daily said that Saniora held a meeting on Thursday night with MPs Marwan Hamadeh, Antoine Saad and Henry Helou to discuss the memo.
