MP Butros Harb on Thursday revealed that President Michel Suleiman has informed him that the relevant authorities “have decided to hand over the complete telecom data” to the security agencies probing the recent failed attempt on his life.
“A formula has been reached for that,” Harb said, adding that such a move would represent “a serious step towards unveiling the circumstances of the attempt on my life.”
Speaking to reporters following talks with U.N. Special Coordinator for Lebanon Derek Plumbly, Harb called on Hizbullah to “allow” the person suspected of being involved in the assassination bid to “give his testimony.”
The lawmaker said his meeting with Plumbly addressed the current situations in Lebanon. For his part, the U.N. official said he visited Harb to inquire about his health in the wake of the assassination attempt.
On July 7, Harb confirmed that Telecommunications Minister Nicolas Sehnaoui informed him that the security agencies received the so-called telecom data.
Back then security agencies said the information was incomplete after they were not provided with what is known as the international mobile subscriber identity (IMSI).
Harb was the target of a murder attempt on July 5 when residents of a building in which his office is located in the Beirut district of Badaro discovered individuals trying to booby-trap the elevator.
