A collection of photographs of Marilyn Monroe obtained by the Polish state as part of a foreign debt settlement will go on display in Warsaw next month before they are auctioned off later this year.
Poland's State Treasury received the shots of Monroe taken by her friend Milton Green in a collection of nearly 4,000 photographs it received as part of the 1995 financial agreement.
The collection also contains images of Frank Sinatra, Liza Minnelli, Marlon Brando, Judy Garland and Marlene Dietrich.
Monroe is snapped dressed in jeans fixing her lipstick and hair, eating a meal and coyly chatting on the phone in several photos published online Friday by Poland's leading Gazeta Wyborcza daily.
The exhibition runs from August 6 to September 6 at the Association of Polish Artists (and) Photographers, organizers told Agence France Presse Friday.
According to the association some of the images of Monroe are previously unseen.
No date has yet been fixed for the auction, but Poland's State Treasury expects it to go ahead before the end of the year and fetch upwards of $680,000 (560,000 euros).
