President Michel Suleiman has urged Bahrain to safeguard the interests of Lebanese expatriates in the Kingdom in line with strong Lebanese-Bahraini relations, a statement released by Baabda palace said.
Suleiman followed up on the situation of Lebanese in Bahrain during a phone conversation Sunday with Bahrain’s King Hamad.
The president also made a series of phone calls to Arab leaders during which he voiced hope for stability and prosperity in their countries, the statement said.
Last week, Bahrain warned its citizens against travel to Lebanon following comments by Hizbullah leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah on the Shiite-led protests in the Gulf kingdom.
Bahrain also urged its citizens in Lebanon "to leave immediately.”
