Popular Nasserite Organization head Osama Saad urged on Saturday the cabinet to assume its responsibilities, holding it accountable for resolving the blockage of roads in Sidon.
“The cabinet is responsible for providing everyone with the freedom to move around,” Saad said during a press conference at his office in Sidon.
He pointed out that there are attempts to incite the local situation and to target the resistance through sectarian strife.
Saad called on the national powers to exercise the highest degrees of awareness, warning of the conspiracy that is targeting security, stability and civil peace in the country.
He noted that blocking the roads inflict serious damage to the peoples’ daily lives.
On Wednesday, Salafist cleric Sheikh Ahmed al-Asir blocked the road in the southern city of Sidon, vowing to continue the sit-in until the issue of non-state arms is resolved.
Political powers are exerting efforts to convince Asir to end his protest.
Saad rejected the use of power and violence against the protesters or any other peaceful demonstrators as “everyone is entitled of having the freedom of expression.”
He stressed that dismantling the resistance is a U.S.-Israeli demand that only serves its schemes against Lebanon, Palestine and the Arab nation.
“The arms of the resistance should work in parallel with the army under one national defense strategy,” he stated.
