Report: The Speaker Obtains Names of Group Plotting to Assassinate him
Speaker Nabih Berri revealed that he had obtained the names of those who are plotting to assassinate him, As Safir newspaper reported on Monday.
“I know where they are holding their meetings and what they are plotting,” Berri told senior Fatah official Azzam al-Ahmed.
He urged the Palestinian authority to halt any attempt to use the Palestinian refugee camps in Lebanon to escalate tension in Lebanon.
Earlier this month, the speaker confirmed that a list of politicians and figures would be targeted by extremist groups, describing the threat as serious and dangerous.
According to As Safir newspaper, the information coincided with similar data obtained by Lebanese security agencies.
The report said that Berri and several other senior Lebanese officials might be the target of a security threat by the terrorist group.
In January, security agencies urged Berri and Progressive Socialist Party leader MP Walid Jumblat to take precautions as they might be the target of an assassination plot.
