2 Cabinet Sessions this Week to Tackle Security and Financial Issues
The cabinet is scheduled to hold two sessions this week to discuss financial issues and mainly the security situation and the repercussions of the kidnapping of 11 Lebanese pilgrims in Syria.
The first session is set to be held on Tuesday afternoon at the Grand Serail to continue discussions on the rest of the agenda that was not fully tackled when the cabinet convened last week.
The cabinet will also meet on Wednesday morning at Baabda palace to discuss the draft state budget of 2012 that Finance Minister Mohammed Safadi has referred to the secretariat of the council of ministers.
But the security situation in general and the abduction of the Lebanese men in the northern Syrian province of Aleppo last week in particular will be heavily discussed by the cabinet ministers on Tuesday before resuming talks on the remaining articles of the agenda.
The pilgrims’ abductors are not identified and their kidnapping has puzzled Lebanese authorities which do not know yet the whereabouts of the men who were in Syria on their way to Lebanon from a pilgrimage in Iran.
