The Lebanese Film Festival is back on this summer's festivals program and will be celebrating its 10th anniversary from August 23-26, 2012 at the Metropolis Empire Sofil, the LFF said in a press release Wednesday.
To celebrate its tenth anniversary, the Lebanese Film Festival, which was created by “..né.à Beyrouth” in 2001, has come up with a revised program set up by a new team.
Pierre Sarraf and Nadim Tabet, founding members of the Festival, respectively Festival Director and Artistic Director until 2010, entrust “bande à part”, a new company founded and lead by Sabyl Ghoussoub, with the management and programming of this upcoming edition, the media release said.
The decision stems from “..né.à Beyrouth”’s desire to exclusively focus its activities in the production field. However, the production company will continue to work with “bande à part”, for the organization of this year’s event.
The aim of the Festival remains the same: providing a platform for Lebanese filmmakers to enable them to show their work and meet their public and thereby, promote the Lebanese production in Lebanon and abroad.
The Festival will also continue to uncover new talents: 30% of the selected films are debut films by emerging filmmakers, it added.
“As a spectator of this Festival for years, I always thought that the approach adopted by Pierre, Nadim and the “..né.à Beyrouth” team was brave and just,” said Sabyl Ghoussoub. “I still remember my experience as a member of the 2010 team and I hope that with the new team, we shall have the same drive and pursue the festival in the same successful manner.”
